I can't speak to GM's system cause I quit fu@king with them decades ago due to maintenance issues. Same reason I choose the Z over the Corvette. To me saying GM and better is like saying Lawyer and honest. It just doesn't go together. Toyota's been running their D-4S system for 20+ years. Between two vehicles I've racked up around 150K with no issues and that's with 1 year or 10K OCI.

So, some engines are a bit looser than others. An engine that puts a few ounces into a catch can between oil changes, is headed for heavy carbon buildup on the intake valves on a DI engine.
It might take 40,000 miles to sap more than 5-6 hp, but it will happen.
Most likely you can assume even a tight engine will have a fairly thick coating of carbon by 100,000 miles.
Emissions standards today won't tolerate much blowby during the required mileage interval. But track use and frequent hammering to redline, will push the rings to their practical limit.
Most people rarely shove any engine past 5,000 rpm so things like catch cans are not worth messing with. For the rest of us with DI systems - even without boost, it's just added prevention with no downside.
