I already had decided to change out the plug before I even ordered the pan but when I received it the magnet was just loose inside the plug the only thing holding it in was the plug itself being magnetic I could just lightly pull and the magnetic would come out. Also the magnet in the gold plug is far stronger than the dorman one
Which gold plug are you referring to? I'd like to compare.

Dorman aluminum pan from Walmart, best bang for the buck, easy install. Nissan oil filter with Pennzoil 0W-20 6.5 quarts break in oil change. installing Mishimoto shroud shortly.

Post some pics of their shroud! I've been eyeing it up for a while now.

Here is the pan, I'll be putting the shroud in sometime within the next week or so and will post that.

I am not a fan of all the unfinished casting spurs in the Z1 pan.

For less money Doorman at least tumbles / blasts their castings. Unfortunately, they chose to use open ribs which is a great place for contaminates to collect with no way of draining them.

For my money, I will go with the CZP. Machined , blasted and anodized finish

Motors are expensive. It blows my mind when people buy a car (they have been and always will be expensive) and then nickel and dime fluids (oil, coolant, gas), replacement parts, and maintenance.

All 3 of these are a massive improvement vs. the stock plastic. I do see your point... The CZP is the nicest of the bunch, but it also costs accordingly. I personally opted for the Dorman since its the best overall value in my mind, but totally understand why someone may be willing to reach up to the CZP if they're looking for the best.

For comparison, here's the stock plastic pan, made by Mahle:

No question that the OEM is the worst option. Those are designed by the supplier (which is spec'ed by the bean counters as they are the current lowest bidder) and based on the lowest cost possible to manufacture something that holds oil and allows 80% or more of the oil to be drained. The 80% threshold is a number determined by the actuaries to minimize warranty costs while at the same time maximizing engine wear, all to minimize the life of the vehicle and get that person back in the car market ASAP.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Exact same reason I don't like John Deere's riding mower oil change canister all-in-one kits!

Completed a nice rainy Sunday project! Mishimoto skid plate/shroud installed. Perfect fit, high quality! Used the jack stands to hold up the back end of it while I held the front and put all the bolts in loosely, then torqued everything down per their specs (you reuse the existing bolts). The part shipped to me within a couple days, box was town up quite a bit but the part itself was bubble wrapped and plastic wrapped, not a scratch or dent.

I’m not sure if I’m a fan of the wrinkle black in my experience it’s a lot less rust resistant of a finish than it looks like it should be. Other than that it looks great.

Luckily this part is aluminum so won't rust, though I coated the steel bolts of course. Sort of related to whomever is doing the oil pan swap, it ends up being closer to 6.75 quarts after a total drain/filters etc and a hundred mile drive or so.

My new/dry Dorman pan with filter change took exactly 6.5 quarts.
