I ordered this for my dad back in July. It's a black on black 2023 Z51 3LT. Haven't driven it that much as it still in the break in period but it had a way more exotic feel than I expected. Made my GTR feel like I was getting out of a maxima

I'm a dad, too, you know...???

If you notice I didnt say I paid for it :p ( we did get it at MSRP which infuriates me even more about our whole Z situation) he said last May when our allocation finally popped up... spec it out how ever you want for us. only thing that I wanted that was on constraint at the time was the 70th anniversary wheels. same design but they are dark gray and that had the red stripe to match the seat belts. its got little touches in it like the door speakers are a stealth metal color and I did the blacked out exhaust tips and a edge red engine cover to match the calipers. looking forward to driving this spring. he is 75 years old and the most sterotypical corvetter guy where he goes out to the garage and looks at it then tells random strangers at the grocery store he owns one lmao

but yeah back to the Z rant. I was able to spec this car out to the seat belt color and for the Z I have to try to find a dealer who gets a random color trim and transmission and hope its a performance black 9AT and its not 20K over.. notice the contrast in buying experience?

I enjoy the SG videos as I thought they were one of the most fair of the initial Z reviews especially when they used the same tires as all the other cars in their test.

I saw this video just yesterday. top rate production line for sure. Especially for a sports car that isn't exactly what I would call low production like it's rivals of Porsche or Ferrari ect. I think it's cool how customers can get their vettes delivered at the factory and be part of the process . I think it's like a $5k option (*edit..its $990)

Speaking of assembly videos Nissan flew a guy to Japan to film the assembly line production of my nismo GTR and I've got a copy of it. So I really enjoy seeing the process of all these cars coming together

I worked for a guy 30+ years ago who collected Vettes. He was on the shorter side, so he had a ZR-1 (early 90's) customized for his frame. As part of the process they actually let him on the assembly line to watch his being made. I always thought that was pretty cool.

It used to be $1k. Not sure what it is anymore. Probably went up - damn inflation.

And how did you get Nissan to fly someone to Japan to film the production of your GTR??

you know I think you are right its like $1K. when I was ordering the 2023 70th anniversary there was a option on there that was $5K. but now that I think about that it might have been for a custom VIN # ( so many personalization options with this car)

to answer you question I have the first ever GTR NISMO built for the US and part of the presentation process of that involved them filming the assembly. there was some other cool stuff involved like they redid my garage like one of surprise those home make over shows while I was at the dealer picking it up ect.

here is the video. I really havent seen this type off prominence from a manufacturer to go along with a collector car before. so its pretty crazy

lol it's almost as if you shouldn't be revving a brand new engine like that to redline over and over before the end of the break in period

I was about to reply to this that while true at the same time these engines should be bullet proof but then I read the youtube comments of them doing 8600 rpm pulls so yeah thats probably on them. :p I wonder if there will be any push back from GM. I followed the first failure and how it was initially a shitshow between the dealer then GM came in.

my dads 2023 C8 has a limiter to 4K for the first 500 miles. he still has like 100 to go lol

speaking of break in and the varying opinions of how it should be done. I always thought this was an interesting story. so my GTR NISMO since it was #1 production car was used a quality control test car and they did 71 miles on the factory test track before it left Japan. they must have ran it pretty hard because there is a note in the center console of when the titanium exhaust was installed after the 71 miles testing so the tips wouldnt be burnt blue on delivery

Ask Ford about their FPC engines. I’m sitting on the sidelines for the Z06. My C7 is still running like a top.

Not quite sure how I feel about that video.

On the one hand , it shows how tough and durable these cars are. And it shows that you don't need to be afraid to drive it. I've always disliked weekend warriors who turn their Vettes into garage queens and treat them like a Bugatti or some other fragile priceless item.

But

Was the purpose of this video strictly for views and clout, and to show how badass they are , and a $80k vehicle is nothing to them ?

I think it was pretty shitty for them to abuse such a beautiful machine. It kind of makes them look like your typical spoiled rich kids.

The question is - Did GM suggest that they make a video to demonstrate to the public that the C8 is a very strong and durable vehicle ? ........... hmm
