New Z side mirrors fold in?

I was told by the salesman that the side mirrors do indeed fold in with pressure on the new Z. I pushed on them a little and it doesn't seem like it's a good idea to keep pushing. Does anyone know if your side mirrors can be folded in closer to the body for added safety when parked?

Yea they fold in.

I have done it plenty on mine. You can see the point it twists on too if you look for the separation.

Thanks again. I was using 1 hand to try to fold them, 2 hands was the key.

I am just kidding around @Mud but this picture is messing with my OCD because of that.

And yes, us (North?) Americans are jealous of your power folding mirrors. I wonder why it is not standard here.

My logic, we drive on the left of the road. When parallel parking, the curb is on the left. It's just a quick pull down on the knob and I can check clearance.

Also I think in Japan they auto fold when you turn the car off...
If its true, there must be a way to get the motorised AU mirrors to auto-fold. Need someone to really deep dive through the BCM.

Yeah I've looked into it. Auto folding mirrors is an option as part of the security packages in Japan, about Y33227. Dealer wouldn't sell them unless you had proof of owning a Japanese delivered car.

And before anyone else weighs in and says, you can get a module off ebay for $12.
My understanding is that the Z mirrors are the same as the 370Z mirrors and are canbus controlled.
The cheap kits work on 350Z and R35 which are not canbus. Quite a few have tried and failed to get them to work. I've contacted some ebay sellers who swear they'll work with canbus, but I'm yet to see one installed and working.
There are plenty of aussies that would snap them up if they were available at a reasonable price.

I just installed a module like the one in this 'how to". I wired mine so that the mirrors fold on locking, unfold on unlocking. The install process I followed was exactly as the video including wiring. My vehicle is AUS delivered. I like to be able to use my side mirrors when exiting the car on a busy street. I also prefer to have the side mirrors folded when I'm parked on the street so I'm quite happy with this kit. It was about a 2 hour install for me and cost just under $A100 with taxes & delivery from Yahoo Japan. We'll see how long it lasts.
