Because they couldn't get the paint right on the tri-coat colours. They focused on getting the simpler colours out first. The white was apparently the worst of them.

Mine has to go back under warranty because the paint still isn't right. I don't know how it passed inspection.
what was the issue?

White?! The worst.. oh god.
Three layers of different whites including pearl and fleck layers. New paint facility and new "environmentally friendly" application methods. A recipe for disaster, especially in Nissan's hands..

It looks fantastic up close, though. Not just a basic white.

The problem with mine is not the white, they seem to have fixed that issue, but the black roof isn't right. It's patchy and spotty with white visible through spots and scratched where they missed while slapping the glass into place.

It seems like they inspected the white and didn't even bother to check over the top.

The Z got a new brother today. A 1991 TX3 4WD Turbo. I always loved these as a kid and now it's happened. Very different to the Z but still so much fun.

I so lusted after those as a kid, made me first wonder to the magic of turbos.

considering you could have this with 132kw out of 1.8L

or at same time a base model EA falcon 3.2L had 90 KW from it's much bigger 6 cly
or if you spent more you gould get the bigger 6 3.9L in falcon with still only 120kw.

so over double the capacity and less power.

good find.

These have/had 117kw I believe. It still feels very punchy when on boost and it has a cool green boost light which my inner child loves. Quite a few small issues that I need to fix if ever I have the time/can find the parts. But for a 33 year old car it seems pretty clean and original - I love it. I was surprised how smooth it drove even at freeway speeds on the way home.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_B_engine#BPT

Good find. The 4WD small turbo cars of that era are still cool cars. I always liked the GT4 Celica...

Great combo! I love the TX3. Can I ask how much you paid?

$15k. No idea if that's a good or bad price since they're so rare but it's original and mostly in pretty good shape as far as I can tell. Taking it to a mechanic tomorrow to get inspected/serviced so hopefully I don't find out otherwise.

There's another one on marketplace at the moment listed for $20k which I also checked out. He indicated he'd accept $15k as well but it was a bit less original and had some panel alignment issues. It was also great fun to drive though.

Thanks mate. I’d pay that for such a fun iconic car. At least it’s in the hands of someone that appreciates it.

So what sort of fuel economy are others getting.
So admit you I’m just in the run in process so I’m not bouncing of limiter or anything. But still do some hill runs and a few nice pulls.
Ie not hypermiling or anything.

I was expecting to be in the 12s

but I’m in the 9’s and dropping!

Those that swapped wheels.

did you move Tpms sensors or get new ones.
And if new where did you get them.

I’m keep to get new ones for the new rims so I don’t need to dismount the tires on the old ones.

What are you doing with old wheels?
