Stopped by Corona Nissan CA, 2 Protos sold or at least ā€˜spoken for’ and 1 available, whatever that means. However salesperson said won’t be physically in for a few weeks?! Just can’t wait to see an actual window sticker with the ridiculous ā€˜adjustment’ ?

Loyalty Nissan just south of Richmond had a proto and already sold it. They are saying they have 4 performance and 2 sports on the way.
Wonder if the Sport will have less ADM than Performance since not as popular?? At least more negotiable. This could be good! Still think optimum upgrades to Sport is the way to go for max performance!

My Dealer emailed me today and said still no information for them in Canada. He said hoping to hear something in September. So I've just stopped checking and worrying about this car. I'm 3rd in the allocation queue and it'll arrive when it arrives.
My dealer said they have NO cars being made in Canada yet based what they have on their system. I’m first at my dealer and I hear your frustration. Losing interest in the car too. Nissan screwed it with so little info.

By all appearances, when Nissan salespeople are asked about the new Z's availability/pricing/proper-bloody-name, they're all instructed to change the topic and look for a manager.

This one was posted by Tacoma Nissan.

I went to Tacoma Nissan on Sunday and got to sit in this one.

Actually, it was locked, but I asked the sales guy if I could sit in it. He went off to look for the key. I heard the locks click, and not seeing the sales guy, I tried the door and it opened. I sat in it for a few minutes, until another sales lady came by and said people weren't supposed to sit in it because they wanted to save it for whoever owns it. I got the impression this one isn't spoken for, because she said I could be the owner. Too bad I hate yellow cars, or I would be tempted.

Did you get nervous and hopped right out or did you brush her off?

I got out when she walked up to the car.
reminds me of when the zupr4 first launched. i was on the waiting list at the 2 different toyota dealerships that i purchased 3 new trucks from.

was waiting for several years before launch...essentially from when the ft-1 concept was revealed. as the years went by it became clear what the production car would end up being and i decided against it.

when it arrived i kept getting calls almost every week from dealers asking me to come check it out. i would politely decline. one day i went in for scheduled maintenance and near the waiting room was a zupr4 with velvet ropes surrounding it.

i kinda chuckled to myself and went on to the vending machines. my salesguy saw me..."hey man! here's that "supra" you've been waiting for!"

id already told him (and his manager) numerous times on the phone i wasn't interested anymore, but he wanted show it to me, so we checked it out. he looked around like he was being 'sneaky' and asked me if i wanted to sit in it...even though it was "not allowed." i passed and told him im probably gonna get something else.

on supraforums there were several stories like that and even some dealerships who would not even allow test drives...you had to purchase the car if you wanted to drive it...who does that! ?

people got a good laugh out of it and a few who were seriously considering buying one either didn't or went to a different dealership. i and others on sf commented how we've test driven cars far more valuable with no issues.

after the car had been out a few months and all the hype died down...the velvet ropes came down too. by then they weren't moving many and you could get them way below msrp (before covid tax). but when they first came out stealerships were asking $15-40k over, just like the proto.

anyway, sorry for the long winded post...

?

Getting a test drive in a hot new release around the greater Toronto area is impossible, dealers can sell them without the bother and expense. They never have demos to test drive unless a) the car has been out for a couple of years and the sales volume has started dropping and b) the car has enough sales volume to make having a demo worthwhile to the dealer (eliminating cars like the Supra and CTR). It's more than a year since the 2nd-gen twins started selling and still no test drives are available.
