I'm a little confused as well why we are only missing a few key points of info. All I know is there are panels of people paid way more than me who make those decisions. I estimate pricing to sit between 45-47k for the performance manual. It's really a great price point for all the extras you get over the sport.

I agree about not paying markups. Now that I know the situation isn't looking good for available inventory, I'm going to put the Z out of my mind for a while. I'll let other people chase and stress over it. We need to remember that this is probably the worst time in car history to buy a new or used vehicle. The sad thing is, I don't NEED a car. It's just a desire for something new and shiny. I may jump on this site now and then, but for now, I'm going to stop coming here because I find it counterproductive.

It's a bit more stressful but buying cars right now is like playing stocks. The market is high but that doesn't mean the whole market is high. It's about buying smart what is a good by during these months and what isn't. Book values on trucks and full size SUVs dropped due to gas prices. So if you need something like that take the increased value of your sedan or small SUV and make the most of what the market is offering. Especially with sedans being so high right now.

I hope you don't give up on the Z either. It's super discouraging with production being down and the reality that there may not be a 2022 Z available at launch because they are pre sold. I have over 100 people to get a Z before I get to think about getting mine ? but I'm cool with that because I know mine will come. Hang in there man and best wishes to you.

I don't like toyota so with the MK5 and 86 I just assume they don't want to waste their resources on a car that doesn't make them money. At least here in the states that's not Toyotas name sake. But your right we really don't know the reasoning.

im telling you man they wanted to bust out all these GR models and figured that maybe they would make more money selling the GR yaris and GR Corolla and just slpped together a supra to appease the JDM Gods lol

In Aus we only get the proto and one other version that appears to be somewhere in between a sports and performance model with it leaning more heavily towards the latter.
Even if we get our pricing it would be hard to judge what it would be in the US because it’s not the same car…and I presume the same could be said for the Japanese market.
Whatever the price, I wish they would hurry up and announce it.
If it’s too expensive, I’ve then got a four month wait to get a MX5 ( Miata) so I would like to know either way

I'm a max of 5k over MSRP regardless of trim, color, options. That's the agreement I have worked out with my dealer group/boss. Though I will say don't ask me for a proto. I made a video with stevewithaz on youtube saying how I was pricing the cars and got 13 orders for the Proto. Im NOT doing any more ?. Got a meeting be back in an hour.

In Aus not so clear…talk is the Z will be between 70-80k ( non proto) you can get a top of the line Miata for 50k
thats a huge difference, and yes I’m willing to pay that…but if it tips over 80 as recent rumours suggest then I have to use my head and over rule my heart, because that then becomes a bridge to far

When I get my chance I am 100% getting it in Yellow. I like the blue but the yellow is so loud and out there I can't say no to it.

i let my gf pick my color this time i gave her like 4 choices but i knew what she was going to pick before i finished the list lol i was between blue and gray . but she picked gray. she said i already had a hot wheels blue car lol is what she refers to any bright blue color

Wonder if we see anything come of it or not.

There is a big difference between a 20-25 thousand dollar sedan and a 40 thousand dollar 2 door sports car. The Z will be limited production due to production shortages as well as it being a sports car. I mean the new Z should see around 30MPG highway and 22-24 city which isn't bad at all.

Everyone is starting to drop sports cars. SRT is gone, STI is going electric, we saw the embarrassment that was the Integra. ICE sports cars are going away in favor of electric. They are quicker and will be faster; I do understand that. However, personally they don't have the personality that ICE cars do.

I'll add my observation from spending some time looking at Titan and Tundra at local dealerships.
Both dealerships confirmed that auction and trade-in values for BOF (body on frame like pickup truck and SUV) responded accordingly to the high fuel prices almost immediately. Additionally, the current selling prices of new BOF vehicles have, in many cases, seen the once prevalent ADMs and dealer add-ons removed.
The Nissan dealership told me that in one week they sold 5 Leafs, and they admitted it's not usually a popular vehicle anymore.
The Toyota dealership said that the RAV-4 Prime and Hybrid are under extreme demand. When I was at the dealership, their RAV-4 Hybrid example had a line of people waiting FOR A TEST DRIVE!

Ok, a couple things to note:

I doubt any decently efficient vehicles will see any significant price drops.

Gas prices came down because gas demand in China collapsed because they are just now going through Delta and Omicron surges that killed travel.

The Russia crisis should come back into play soon, gas prices are going to be very unstable in the next few weeks but should settle at being high for a while.

Sports cars will probably still be difficult to buy as their production is slated to remain crimped, and most aren't so bad on gas that people would really care. The new Z should be reliably at 25mpg, what prospective buyer would find that unreasonable?

Now's a good time to buy a new BOF truck or SUV.
