Curious your take on the new R, as reviews (especially "longer-term" ones, i.e. a week or more) have...not been terribly promising. However, I do love me a hot hatch, so as time goes on I wonder if people change tunes. The one dealer that I reached out to already sold the single R they got, don't know when they'll get more (not to mention it was automatic) and now, with that ship fiasco off Portugal, I wonder how even more goofed things are going to get for VW Auto Group.
Yeah, reviews aren't great for the new R, except for the driving experience. I was always impressed how "premium" my "dorky" Mk7 GTI felt. I really don't think I'd like living with the haptic buttons in the Mk8, looking at the new Z and it's using traditional interfaces, which I highly prefer. I'd actually get the DSG, that's what my GTI had, it was excellent.

I feel really bad for people waiting for their cars, I was on the Mk8 forums, and apparently those buyers can reserve a GTI or R, and they've been assigned VINs, and that also means they actually know that their particular car is definitely on that ship! That would be such a bummer.

Honestly, can't even imagine the heartbreak. Reminds me of that, what was it, tornado that wrecked a Corvette factory? Not to mention the truck that caught fire loaded w/ C8's. Like, sure, we've waited awhile, but that's a whole other level of hurt.

The Supra Is A Perfectly Competent Long Distance Grand Tourer If You Want It To Be
Enjoy this review of a rear-wheel-drive sports car that involves no wheelspin but plenty of mundane highway cruising in a state that doesn't tolerate speeders.

It may be "perfectly competent", but it's still horrifically ugly and wildly over-priced (at least here)! :)
