z1 now offering titanium shims for Z33 Brembo, Z/Rz34 Akebono and R35 Brembo
https://www.z1motorsports.com/search?q=titanium%20shims

Short version is titanium shims help keep brakes cool by resisting heat transfer to the caliper

there are more detailed explanations out there if you’d like to learn about it

obviously this is a track mod and unnecessary for street
the Z needs all the brake cooling help it can get

no idea about the quality of theses but as long as the shape is correct.,,,it’s a no moving part that just gets sandwiched between the caliper piston and pads you shouldn’t fuck that up

the advantage of Z1 is theoretically ease of purchase. i previously had to go through an eBay supplier that went in and out of stock

NISMO front are Akebono calipers (diff than Perf) with 380x34 rotors.
NISMO rears are the same calipers & rotors as Perf.

Based on searching too much for brake rotors and pads, neither that I need at this point, the NISMO Akebono fronts are their own animal. Haven't seen anything that those pads are used anywhere else. I don't know that for fact, but I haven't seen anything on US or JDM websites stating that.

Separate-ish topic:
Curious about the '27 and the 'GT-R rotors' on the front. I assume that would be the 2011 and older models, as they were 380x34, and 2012+ went to 390. As you know, 380x34 wont just fit another 380x34. The critical part is the hat offset and clearance. It hasn't been confirmed that the '27 NISMO front is exact OEM GT-R part. Regardless, the price for OEM 2011 380x34 rotors is STUPID!
If it is the exact GT-R part, 380x34 rotors for 200?-2011 GT-R would fit the front NISMO, at least '27+.
Then it needs to be determined if the '24-'26 front setup is the same as the '27.
If so, 200?-2011 380x34 GT-R rotors would fit mine.
If so, J-Hook party for Chad! ...although not sure what I'd do for the rear.
Sakebomb said they can assemble a set of AP for the RZ34 NISMO, and I assume other models as well.

As long as the shim is correctly shaped for the pad i dont see a problem

maybe the rotor thickness is wildly different but i cant see it being that much from gtr to z

and unless you have a car that already has those GTR brembos that arent a particularly good upgrade anyways

theyre usually massively overpriced, and gtr owners are always bitching about then

if you are a non nismo Z owner that actually needs different calipers for your driving level…call AP racing

for similar money you’ll be ahead

How much do these actually benefit temps? Especially once you have high temp brake fluid + track pads?

probably depends on the application but the point is you can do them in conjunction with pads, fluid, ducting and 2 pc rotore

We used to use the GiroDisc Ti shims back when on the Evo 8/9s. It's definitely a track mod; if you need them you already know.
