Did my 1200 mile oil change today

I've spent the past month driving like a geriatric in an old Chrysler on the way to Bingo; never over 4000RPMs, light throttle, etc. Today I finally hit the magical 1200 mile thresh hold (well, 1184 to be exact, but good enough for government work) I've read several posts and watched some vids of people doing the first oil change and many of these pics and vids look like expresso with a glitter bomb as the oil drains.

I was underwhelmed. I dumped out 5 3/4 quarts of mostly clear lightly brown colored oil. No debris, chunks, or discoloration. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised.

The only thing that threw me off is that it took almost the entire 6 quarts of supplied Nissan 0W-20 to refill to the full line. I let the car sit 15 minutes after running it to allow the oil to drain back into the pan. The car was on level ground in the garage too. I was also confused by the oil filter. The factory original was a blue Nissan by Mahle, but it was a F1A number (not the F1B). Concept Z is where I bought my oil change kit and they included the Mexican F1E filter. I looked it over. Nothing outwardly scary, same dimensions....... so that's what's currently installed.

Same here - 6 qt. puts me at the full tick mark on the dip stick.

The made in japan filters by Mahle can be found on ebay…. Not a fan of anything out of Mexico. i also prefer the Japanese text on the filter.

I‘m sure the Mexico filters are as good as any, but i will use the japan filters as long i can find them…

The purpose of a break-in period is to allow bearings to seat, rings to seal, and metal parts to mesh to each other. Often, there are minute metal particles suspended in the oil from this process. Changing the oil at the end of the break-in period removes these particles from the car so they cannot act like sandpaper and accelerate wear once the engine is operated to full potential. That is why I changed the oil at 1200 miles. It's a common practice with other manufacturers that recommend break-in procedures.

I don't think it matters what Nissan recommends, it's widely recognized that its a good idea to get the break in oil out after 1k miles or so. Nissan is at 5K intervals.

Not about wrong of inaccurate, but you openly criticize everyone for every choice they make on their cars, and if you think the that not changing your break in oil until 10K miles is the right thing to do, go for it champ, but why give someone shit because they choose to follow best practices and change the oil early. I wasn't. I changed my oil with krackaC8 at 5900 miles. I should have done it sooner to be honest but I'm new to this jap crap.

Get a box of tissues. I'm here for the long haul and sounds like we'll butt heads since you are a very sensitive man. Maybe you should buy some imitation nuts on eBay.

Question: is the built-in oil change reminder just a simple mileage counter or is it a more complex algorithm like GM's oil life system?

I'm at 3,500 miles and my oil has been changed at least 3 times already (twice by me)
