The successor Camaro (7th gen) has just been approved for production. Always good news to see sports cars being kept alive (or revived in this case).

Are they planning it to be an EV crossover like the Mach E? I see those quite a bit, although they could rebadge a 2002 Pontiac Aztec with ponies and GT logos, call it a Mustang and sell 20K of them a year.

There's been talk about keeping it on the Alpha platform (Caddy AT4, AT5 I believe), and big speculation ranging from EV to hybrid to ICE-only possibly with a new gen small block V8.

More sports cars is always a good thing. I don't understand the hate. The latest Camaro outperforms the Z in every measurable metric. It's not 1993 anymore.

A ten year old SS has a faster Lightning Lap time than a current model year Nismo Z. Oof. The ZL1 outperforms a GT-R NIsmo for half the price.

I mean, I love my Z, but let's be real.

No hate. Ask anyone what car makes them think of a redneck with a mullet and they’ll say Camaro. That said, I’ve always liked Camaros. I’d daily a late-’80s IROC like a fiend.
There are a crapton of cars that do everything better and faster than the Z. Doesn’t mean I, or anyone aren’t allowed to rag on them.
A couple of jokes about a Camaro on a Nissan Z forum and immediately another Nissan Z owner starts posting lap times…?… Lighten up.

At the end of the day, still a resurrected pile of shit. I'd only have an F-body 1982 to 1992. Nothing else. These cars come with huge V8s that don't make the power they should.

I considered a Camaro after the NISMO Z came out, dealers pulled their bs, and I gave up on ever getting one. The most recent ZL1 is a beast, and looks wicked. Someone around town has a late model V6 with a ZL1 bumper And the tires look like they’re 205’s. I guess I shouldn’t say anything though, because his lightning lap may be quicker than mine.

I mean, I chose a Z, so obviously there are considerations other than just “fastest car”. I’m just saying, calling a car that dog walks the Z a “pile of shit” is… an interesting take.
