POS ford beater. and did that on purpose…. Did he ding the door? We need side bars with spikes or rock sliders to discourage the door dingers.
No dings. I check religiously whenever I think there's a possibility. I was in shock a little bit at 1--how close he parked and wayyy over the line, front and rear tires are over and 2--you can't really see how much of a beater his car was, even the driver's door was caved in.

Man, if he had got my door, it would have been a different post entirely 🤣

Man, I hear you. Sounds like me. If I ever start to doubt today's world is filled with jacka$$ jerks, I just hop in my car and take a drive. ;)

I've also noticed my red Z seems to bring out either the best or the worst in other drivers. I've had drivers give me a thumbs up and even enthusiastic shout-outs and others act like complete jackwads. The Houston metro is a weird world.

LOL. Yes, and the closer you get to downtown Houston, the worse the roads. Houston's idea of road repair on a good day is to slop some hot-fill in a pothole and move one. And this is after the pot hole has finally reached the size of an average crater on the Moon. :sneaky:

Fortunately, I'm out in suburbia and the roads around here are semi-tolerable. The Z stays in the garage if I have to venture close to the third world parts of downtown Houston. I suit up like Rambo and hop in my other vehicle that at least has a more forgiving suspension.

I remember driving while looking for work, and it was like driving over railroad ties. Then I look over to the on-ramp and a dude is entering with his gorgeous silver Ferrari. I don't remember the model but I was thinking to myself, I could NEVER... LOL!

I think I was staying off the Sam Houston Beltway...does that sound right?

Sounds about right, unfortunately. I’m guessing you may have been on the west side somewhere, maybe not far from the Galleria to the City Centre area. Houston can really be “crazy town.” Ferraris, Lambos, etc. screaming down third world, bombed out streets, while ladies with Prada handbags strut by the homeless. Oh, and with a gang having a gunfight a block or less away. ;)

Z1 Aluminum W-brace not even close to fitting with the AWE Touring catback! I wanted more clearance but got even less. So instead, I hammered the stock brace into submission to add an extra ¼" of clearance which is all that's needed. I then repainted it with some matte black Rustoleum primer+paint to prevent future rust at the " massaged" area 🙂

I honestly think AWE would be wise to include some ¼" spacers for this brace in their installation hardware pack.

The paint was still wet when I took the pics so it looks a bit glossy, but once it dried it matched the factory finish perfectly.

Can you mount the oem brace upside down?

I was thinking of using washers or something for more clearance. did you try spacers before beating the h@ll out of it? More fun?

I’m thinking maybe flattening it with a vice or having a fab shop to remake and sell to all the awe customers -lol

It cannot be mounted upside-down, but washers or little steel spacers would be perfect. I searched my stash but couldn't find enough in the right size.

A bench mounted vice would work really well, too.

I was a bit frustrated and working with what I had... Should have made a hardware store run for washers/spacers, but was rather pissed off. I have wasted way too much time adjusting this exhaust due to rattling on the brace.

@KrackaC8
You thinking about selling the brace?
I submitted a return claim to Z1, but if you want it that's fine too. I'm sure we could work something out!

I was really excited for it too because I like my two other Z1 braces and they told me it'll clear the AWE.
