Hey all, I'm considering getting a custom steering wheel to match the blue leather in my Performance? Anyone here have one? Any thoughts? JDMuscle sells some so I'm curious on how the experience was.

I actually ordered one from JDMuscle about a week ago, looks like it has a 60 day lead time so hopefully in by first of March!? I also have the blue interior but did the black leather on the side with Alcantara top and bottoms with blue stitching, a blue wheel would be cool but wanted to stay a little more subtle. I hope it’s a little thicker than stock and a little more squishy, that would be ideal for me!

Can't wait for a review and pics of your custom wheel.

They have a lot of sweet options, and it's pretty tempting....

Just came today! Overall really good! If I ordered it again would go a little darker on stitching but close enough to not notice at a distance. I got it a little thicker and squishier than OEM which it definitely is!

Never changed a steering wheel, but I assume you have to unplug stuff…electrical stuff. Disconnect the battery before you start disconnecting stuff to the steering wheel. There’s an airbag in that equation and the BCM and/or some control module isn’t going to be happy if you unplug it while the car’s powered.

Basically, yes. First take the negative terminal off of the battery then you’re good to go! I’ve done one before but I’ll have my custom shop do it for me early next month.

Out of curiosity, how much is your shop charging? Mine was going to do the swap for $100.

I got it installed! The material feels great but it’s a little half baked in design still as mine is a little thicker than stock (which I wanted) but they didn’t account for where the trim pieces sit on the wheel and it gives a gap between the front and back. It’s really only noticeable if you’re looking or feeling for it. Then the other larger problem which was a manufacturing issue is the centering spline is a little off of center so when it seats on the column it either sits a little to the left or to the right and not centered. I was about to just start a return but my custom shop I go to, GP Customs, took a second swing at it and was able to alter it enough to were it’s just about 99% where it needs to be, so I’m rolling with it as I love the feel of it versus stock! I would get one again but keep the thickness closer to stock and keep your fingers crossed the spline is properly centered!

Get an alignment. Every steering wheel is going to be different after disassembly & reassembly. It's a simple tie rod adjustment.

It’s close enough so definitely will, at first it was off a lot! When I did a custom wheel on my old GR86 from Rexspeed it was perfect out of the box so I had similar expectations since this wheel was about $300 more than that one.

Has anyone tried some of the eBay options? I know Boosted6 is also selling carbon fiber steering wheels now for $600.
