Pardon my ignorance.

My last car had rev match and I was spoiled with it. It never did what the Z does. Why does the Z rev when put it in neutral to coast to a stop? Out of all the new tech, rev match is something I actually use. I don't have it activated just for this reason. Is there a way to stop this?

my auto does this too occasionally but only in sport mode. I press the brake and it revs high for a second and does a lurch when coming to a stop.🤷‍♂️

Does it always do this?

I know mine very occasionally does a bizarre blip from 3-4 for some reason. But that's only sometimes and the only oddity like that i can think of.

I read about this online a while back. I'm new to Nissan.

Something with the S mode. I read it's normal but it seems retarded. Manual transmission car, obviously. I don't downshift ever to stop with of my cars. Depends on speed. If I'm going slow it revs low once in neutral. Say I'm doing 70 and I know I can coast to a light it has revved to 4k. This is really confusing me.

Like it stays at 4k the whole time?

Mine definitely doesn't do that and i use S mode as well.

@Tranzor Z, if you turn SRM off, does it still do it? I think I read somewhere about a short rev hold when slowing to burn excess fuel and help emissions. With SRM on I had to break a "shifter wobble" habit I had. Wobbling the shift lever would trigger an SRM rev.

For the above post no. It revs and then comes back down. If S mode is off, it doesn't do it.

As for wobble I've done that my entire life. When I leave work I'll see if it does it without wobble. Pretty sure it does. I also just read something about emissions. Just want to see if this is normal or not. I feel like it's just burning fuel and wear and tear on the car. Plus it's very annoying.

Its expecting you to select a gear based on your speed. So blips the throttle. When you dont and leave it in N it then idles.

This is normal. My Z and 370z both do it
This is really weird. Never heard of that and my last car didn't do it. Thanks for getting me an answer.

I think it's the sensitivity of the gear 'slots'. I checked different ways, seems like if you just move the shifter 'touching' a lower gear gate, the S mode sensors will activate and attempt a rev match, slightly bumps the revs thinking you would downshift. If you flick the shifter gently to N it shouldn't do that, revs will drop normally. This is what I experienced and annoying, I turned S Mode off and just blip when downshifting or heel-toe for smoother takeup.

Mine does this in S mode only. it has jumped to 6+k and hangs for awhile - when under hard acceleration and shifting into N. So i just shift into next higher gear to prevent.

I notice that it does not rev as high with light acceleration.

was pissed the first time it happened - i was still under break-in milage.

p.s. Not sure why a/t guys shift into N while driving?

All in all it's a glitch and should not be happening. I won't even use S mode because of it. There needs to be an update

I turned mine off. It was burning thru fuel and annoying. Once I figured out how to turn it off, I haven’t had any issues.
