PPF pricing?

Price quoted was $6,000 ~

This was for a full body ppf with a detail/clean before application and paint correction.

Even still, this seems kinda high? They use Suntek I believe, and I think it's also based on a pre cut kit.

What kind of PPF? The good quality will be expensive, but 6,000 is on the expensive side. I was quoted about 4,500 for full Xpel PPF

It is very location dependent. Number of installers in your area, etc. I had a Gr86 done without paint correction for $5,500. 3M Professional. I ate the entire cost when I traded it in for my Z Heritage. I thought I keep the car for a long time but grew tired of it. PPF is great but my advise is don’t do the entire car. Do the front panels and headlights and save the cash. You will recover ZERO if you have to sell car. Good Luck.

I already have 3M ceramic on the front and rear window, not much else I could really work with. They are a higher end place, but $6,000 seems pretty up there if they are using the pre cut kits. I could see paying $4,000~ but 6 seems up there. I wasn't expecting it to contribute to the value so much, but I thought it might at least insulate it or give it a benefit compared to one without it. I have no plans to sell the car as it is now anyway, though.

This is a useful response. Unless you intend to never, ever, ever sell, it's a loser. There's no return. I paid 7k for full Xpel ppf and full ceramic tint.

That’s a tough one! It mainly depends on how paint work they have to do before applying. I paid $4,100 to have front clip, 10” on the roof, behind rear wheel wells, and rocker panels. They’ve had my car 3 weeks getting it ready to apply I had a few rock chips and they want it perfect. So…anyway I’m a firm believer in you get what you pay for. So no, if they do it right, I don’t think it’s too much at all. My guy using 3m stuff of some sort

You get what you pay for when it comes to PPF. That sounds about right for a full install from a quality shop that has a lot of experience with PPF. It's not like installing a vinyl wrap. Totally different beast and characteristics. You only get one shot at PPF installs whereas you can pull up mis-laid film and re-position with vinyl wraps. I've had 8 cars done up with full installs and I can tell you that you are not paying as much for the film, you are paying for the prep, labor and after service. The material cost is pretty much set at around $1300 for one of our cars. That's for full coverage Xpel Ultimate.

Approved Xpel installers use DAP software to cut the kits. A good shop will extend the edges of the kit template to give you nice wrapped edges...highly recommended for light colored cars or matte film installs as dirt will tend to accumulate around the edges of the film on a standard kit. A really good shop will do bulk installs on bumpers that can cut down the number of undercuts and seams in the install. They will also do a full paint correction and should touch up any paint chips prior to install.

I learned the hard way on the first PPF install I had. The shop cut corners and the install looked horrible, but they under cut their competitors by thousands. It took a claim to corporate for them to fix what they screwed up as they refused to to re-do their work. I learned that price will effect quality and pride put into their work.

That’s correct SunTek is what they used. Have zero complains.

I had a full frontal done on mine for $2,700 by a very reputable PPF shop here in Indy. 6k although on the higher side, doesn’t seem completely unreasonable for an entire car.

I’ve probably had 10 cars PPF’d. In my experience, you get what you pay for. Just my two cents.
