Yeah, that's weird. Its a very audible noise going into 2nd and even moreso 3rd. Not a grinding noise but for some reason the normal gear change noise seems significantly amplified. Not unlike some cars that have that loud click/clank when going into reverse (you know, the noise you can hear outside the car watching someone back out of your driveway, for instance.)

So you use Redline MT? Isn't that a different viscosity from the factory spec?
2013 370z here. I have the exact same noise going into 1st, 2nd, gets quieter going into 3rd, and smoother into 4th, 5th, and 6th. I was thinking synchros too but there’s no grinding or other noises associated other than feeling tighter to get into 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and a louder audible clank like when someone is going into reverse.

I haven’t driven MT in over 25 plus years so I am incredibly rusty but I thought I was shifting horribly. I’ve been trying to get used to the car but I feel like I’m overdoing 1-2 gear. Nissan’s Cvt and AT transmission on their cars have spoiled me a bit, so I keep rushing the 2 second hill start.

I feel like shit for smelling the burnt clutch though. I barely have less than 68 miles on the car

Car did not want to go into Reverse today. Tried 10 times. Pushed hard down on the gear shift knob to get into gear. No luck. Finally got into gear and drove home. Notchiness while driving on. the highway. This is with my 2nd NISMO Clutch. Just sent a warm message to NISAN USA and my dealer. 5K miles on car. I want the transmission from my old 370Z, the one where I added Z1 twin turbos.

2nd clutch in 5,000 miles? That sounds like a bad install or a design defect, surprised no one else has had complaints.

I upgraded to a NISMO clutch and had issues with the clutch. Issue was evidently due to install. Dealer replaced the NISMO Clutch.

So you're on your second clutch that is also malfunctioning? I would likely be somewhat ill humored at the dealer. Ideally you get that situated.

At this point, I dolt know whether the clutch or transmission. Sent message to NISSAN USA and my dealer. I am not happy. My sense of humer is dead.

Without seeing it, hard to say, but I'd bet that its likely the clutch; Ideally you won't need a replacement trans, but either way, if it was due to a defect in labor you should be covered.

Kinda hard to believe a tech doesn't know how to install a clutch, that's a very basic thing. Wouldn't be surprised if they mis-aligned the clutch disc and pressure plate or over torqued the pressure plate, but again, all speculation.

Yes, installing the NISMO clutch was different than the standard clutch. Had to get NISSAN Tech involved And my mechanic has been working on my car(s) for 15 years.

The street or the track clutch? When it worked was it smoother, also how much did the dealer charge you to install for example?

Just called the NISMO Street clutch which is strange because the NSMO model does not have a manual Transmission. $720 to install. Replacement clutch for NISMO was under warranty.

It was smoother initially but the replacement is now not allowing to shift into reverse and 1st is also a problem. Going back to dealer later today. I am very annoyed. never had this with the 370Z (with twin turbos installed) or my 300ZX Twin Turbo cars.

Well nismo is just the racing brand of parts, we all know not even the nismo model doesn’t have any nismo parts 😬.
It’s all about the upsell on extra parts, which I’m curious because im
Wondering if anyone’s bought the entire nismo catalog for the Z 🤣🤣

Bought Cat Back Exhaust, Cold air intake, Clutch, Heat exchanger and Stillen Sway Bars. The NiSMO ones were breaking.

When I complained to NISSAN USA about the transmission, they said to go to the dealer and wouldn't have anything to do with me. Car is at the dealer and will stay there until fixed.
