Oldish thread I know but I ordered my "Fairlady Z" emblem last week and should get it tomorrow. I got a performance so it's going on the spoiler.

As for the stock "Z" on the center rear plate I am fairly new to doing this kind of stuff and never removed a factory emblem. Anyone got some advise? Fishing line and some goo-gone or what?

Also, if I were to move the "Z" to somewhere else on the car, after removal, what product would I need to do to get it sticky again on the back?

Yeah fishing line would probably work but I just used floss to take it off

Yep exactly, those 2 products will work great.

Zero chance of me driving around with Fairlady on the back of my car. Some redneck will key my car.

Got a email from nengun - order accepted from factory without a delivery date to nengun. typical 4-8 weeks. So just ordered from ebay guy from NC.

Opened it up from the packaging all excited to get something new for the Z and immediately was like “huh”?

I didn’t realize it had prongs for holes to be mounted….thought it would be double-sided tape
I like the look of this badge. Probably could cut off the tabs to make it work. I might buy and try it.

lol, that or my wife would be told the whole town thinks I’m gay because my car says fairlady.

If you really want an answer to your question, understanding the differences in gesellschaft and gemeinschaft societies is critical.

gemeinschaft

“a spontaneously arising organic social relationship characterized by strong reciprocal bonds of sentiment and kinship within a common tradition” (Webster)

gesellschaft

“a rationally developed mechanistic type of social relationship characterized by impersonally contracted associations between persons” (Webster)

I’ve lived in both with all sorts of variations. Where I live now in TN is by far the most gemeinschaft I’ve experienced. It’s 90% reciprocal and it’s just weird how people will end up in your business. Tentacles everywhere. My ‘22 GR86 had the door randomly caved in sitting away from other cars and on the backside. Very shady. I just never know and try not to draw attention.

Man, if a JDM or vintage badge makes people talk, let ’em. If you’re good with yourself and your wife, who cares what some guy at the gas station thinks? You don’t need a sociology breakdown to throw on a Fairlady emblem. At the end of the day, it’s up to you to decide what you want to rep, don’t do it for other people. Real ones know what it means.
