Anyone else feel a loss in low end for a gain in high end? Seems to be the case based on most dynos I see but wanted everyone's opinion before ordering a Nismo/AMS set. To be paired with CBE.

I do feel this slightly after getting my car tuned (full bolt ons). Feel like I lost a bit down low but it pulls quite hard the rest of the way which feels great.

I've had 3 intakes on my car thus far always on 93oct. Stock, Nismo and K&N, I have not noticed any big difference in power, definitely no loss. My car seems to run best with the K&N but this could be due to the cooler fall weather.

Most after market intakes are designed for noise not efficiency. OEM intake is a well designed "cold air" intake. You def hurt low end w many after market products- on any modern sports car fwiw

That's what I had a tuner tell me when he dyno tuned my old 350z. He said the stock boxes these days are pretty efficient and most aftermarket intakes do a worse job than oem ones unless you get tuned to maximize potential. Guess its a trade off for a little low end for more high end. I remember in my old Z the injen intakes didn't make a difference until you got close to redline.

yup even the Z GT4 racecar uses a version of the OEM boxes. I was open to going to a cone style CAI but after seeing the GT4 keeping the box with panel filter instead I ended up doing stock boxes with high flow drop ins

I might stick with drop ins too. Which ones do you have?

Whats the sound like on the K&N? I know a lot of the the boxed off ones don't get as much suction noise. But the K&N looked like a good compromise of keeping heat out but hopefully making more of that good intake sound.

Do this simple test. After your next drive open the hood, you will find there is no hot air where the air boxes are. Nissan did a great job in controlling the under hood heat in this car. It all seems to go out the front wheel well area. I never installed the rubber seals on top of the K&N air boxes as they are simply not needed and let more sound out.

As for the sound..... Its AMAZING!!! Dont buy this intake, you will have horrible MPG and a ton of extra miles on your car because you will just want to hear the intake sounds over and over. :p

Hell yea! That is exactly what I wanted to hear. I swear I love turbo suction sounds even more than exhaust notes haha.
