I've watched a few of these, the failures always seem to come from simply not doing the oil changes.

Or the oil pressure control solenoid failed without warning = blown engine. Sonic tuned has talked about this before and mentioned other tuners/master technicians at Nissan/Infinity have encountered the same issue.

Besides the blanking plate mod, how often should that get replaced?

Very cool thank you for sharing.
A bit more plastic and rubber than I am used to / would like but as long as I maintain it and change fluids regularly it sounds like it is a pretty solid engine and should last me a long time

New info suggests it's a factory flaw.. right? Not the oil solenoid
