Sound deadening

I had 11 sq/ft and could have used just a little more! My suggestion is at least 15 sq/ft.

I used this stuff in my C8 and it was really good, much better than what I used on the Z.

It's funny you mention making it quiet, I am coming from an S197 Shelby and ZO6 and to be honest, the one thing about the Z I am getting used to, is how quiet it is. I can barely hear and drivetrain noise, there is almost no wind noise and it seems so refined, I need to remember I am driving a sports car.

For the price point of the base Z, I’ve been pretty happy with the noise level. I still remember the noise level of a BRZ I had not long ago. My Z does have a good bit of noise on the freeway, mainly tire noise, but nothing I can’t live with. Another thing I like about the Z, is I can cruise around locally (not on the freeway) with the windows down and not get terribly buffeted by the wind.

My other car is a Lexus ES350. As, expected, it’s quieter, but, again, the Z to me isn’t that bad. To each his own.

I used 11 sq.ft. of SoundShield in the trunk space of mine. Used a total of around 30sq.ft. in the entire car.

Reiterating what's already been said, at least just getting the hatch area done is a huge improvement and only ~2 hours of work. I went with a single layer of Dynamat, followed by two layers of CCF. Road and exhaust noise from the rear was drastically reduced and my audio system sounds better due to less interference in the mids and low-mids. I would definitely recommend it!

After two layers of CCF. I was just able to get the factory foam bits to fit back in the hatch after this. You have to be careful not to add too much deadening or you won't be able to get the foam to go back in where it has to fit between the floor and the plastic trim:

Make sure to get good coverage of the back side as well, but don't cover the air vents!
