It's kind of annoying Nissan chose to place the turbo gauge in the sport dash cluster in addition to the analog gauge. Really wish the cluster was fully customizable.

@ill-legal? You can get an OBD2 reader like OBDLink LX which can read a lot of PIDs and place them on your phone or Android Auto screen.
My choice would be oil pressure, oil temp, and air/fuel....

So my dash was showing 122 degree temps outdoors today here (official number was 118) in Phoenix, one of the hottest days so far this summer. I was driving for about 30 minutes around 1pm, stopped to run an errand for about 30 minutes with the car off and parked in the shade, then got back on the road. I was in city traffic, and over the course of about ten minutes I had three random instances where I was at a stoplight and when it turned green and I started to drive, it felt like I tried to start in 3rd gear or something (my Z is a 6mt). The car just didn't want to rev up and was noticeably sluggish even when I got into the gas pedal more aggresively. After the third time I was starting to freak out a little bit, so I pulled into a parking lot and turned the car off for a few seconds and restarted the vehicle. From there, it was totally back to normal. Had another stop on the way to work, and zero issues. After leaving work, the car behaved normally on the way home.

I've only got about 3800 miles, and I've never experienced anything like this in the Z before. From what I could tell, the oil pressure was on par with what it normally is (17-22psi at idle when warm, 35-36 when cruising at speed, and 50-57 when increasing speed) both when the incident was happening and after, and there didn't seem to be any other issues or symptoms. What should I check to try and troubleshoot this? Anyone else have this happen?
What was your coolant temp? I experienced something similar before upgrading heat exchanger and intake. Your intercoolers are water to air so you need the extra cooling especially in AZ.

I can't recall, I don't believe anything looked abnormally high on my gauges but I was probably more focused on the oil temp and oil pressure...

What heat exchanger and intake did you upgrade to? Have you noticed significant benefits in terms of cooler temps and/or better performance?

I got the Z1 heat exchanger and intake, but I saw conceptZ prices are a little better for their own Hx with higher tank capacity. Yea my coolant temp is consistently 180-185, even when running in 113+ weather the past few days for 4+ hrs. Before upgrades, coolant temp used to hit 205-219 after an hour of driving in 100+ weather. That’s when I can feel the boost pressure and timing decrease, making it sluggish.

Early October is boost weather round here... When the breeze comes back so will your turbos lol
same here - i have not had a noticeable drop in performance at highway speeds with 100 F air temps. Although i‘m ready for winter to see how she runs with lower temps.

he was sitting in traffic with higher air temps - i bet his intake temps were crazy high. Also i bet the stock water/air heat exchanger does not work as good at idle.

Just curious did your oil temp change after installing the Hx?

The car comes with an oil cooler from factory. The Hx is mainly for the intercooler. I installed the Z1 CAI and AMS LDP around the same time as the Hx and notice a slight decrease of 3-5 degrees in oil temp.

I'm planning on getting the CZP oil cooler and Hx.
