Mine comes on when I start my Z. Then once I start moving the light goes out. Even without a passenger in the car.
I popped off the shroud around the light and the connections seem fine.

I did install a frameless mirror and am having trouble remembering if this was happening before that install or not.

Did you disconnect the battery when you installed the mirror?
Not sure if this would have caused any issues. Some cars have radar or safety stuff in the mirrors, and if so the car wouldn’t like seeing it was unplugged.

I did not disconnect the battery when I did the mirror.
I think I will go ahead and disconnect it / re connect it to maybe reset it.

Edit:
Well I disconnected the battery, checked the airbag fuse, took the panel off again and made sure it was all connected. The light still goes off about 5 seconds after startup and driving.

Bummer.

I don’t know if that’s what’s causing what you’re seeing, but I pulled my Z33 seats without disconnecting the battery and ended up having to take it to a mechanic to clear the light as my scan tool couldn’t delete it.

I haven't done any mods to my car and I've noticed if I put my lunchkit on the passenger seat that sometimes the light is on (saying it's off) and sometimes it goes out. I've seen it go off and back on within 10 seconds while driving. I can only assume it's something to do with my lunchkit but it only weighs like 15lbs at the most and typically 5-10lbs.

Are you leaving anything heavy on your passenger seat? If you drive with a passenger does it work properly?

Didn’t think about that. When I pick up my daughter from school I’ve noticed sometimes it’s on and sometimes not. Dont look at it often though, so not sure if there’s a pattern to it.

When it is just ME in the car:

- I know the light comes on at startup. I do not remember if it stays on the whole time while driving.

(I AM HEADED OUT FOR ADRIVE SOON. Will see what mine does. I BELIEVE it goes out when you start driving without a passenger so you don't have an amber light giving your forehead a tan.)

With my ma and daughter in the car:

- She sits in a booster. The 1st one we had had a WIDE base. It placed a LOT of force on the side butt bolsters, and made the car assume it was a heavy person sitting in the front seat. (So the air bag WOULD have went off.)

- I replaced it with one that has a tapered bottom that only rests on the flat part of the butt pad. When driving, and her in the front seat, the airbag light stays OFF.

There is nothing in my passenger seat.
Sounds like this could he normal behavior where It will only light at startup maybe?
In my Frontier the light is constantly on if I have no passenger, but it is also down low.

Hello, it's normal that light comes on only when you have a passenger in the seat.

I got an answer and what I am experiencing is normal.

From the manual:

IMG_1814.webp

So really the light should only be on if condition 2 above is met - a small kid / car seat is in the passenger seat to let you know it is off.

even unoccupied, it does not light up (like every other car in the world) but the airbag is actually off. Probably because like some of you here have said since it is at eye-level and can be distracting.

I tested this by just pushing down on the passenger seat a little bit and the light came on. Then went off again when I let go.

Along this line there are two green lights, unlabeled, next to the SOS button that come on, what are these indicating? I couldn't find it in the manual. In that same console there is a small amber "led" that shines toward the passenger. Is this a sensor for the air bags or something else? Thanks,

Ed.
