Looking at the Corvette's price increase pattern this is completely normal. It almost always goes up by a little every year, something like a few hundred to about a grand.
So from 2019 to 2022 it went up 10%
You realise for the last year…perhaps two Nissan dropped the price of the 370Z substantially to get rid of old stock right?

Moving from a C7 to a C8 is SO MUCH MORE of a significant change that warrants WAY more than a 10% increase just between the models than moving from a Z34 to an RZ34 shooting up to $50 fucking grand. The Corvette's price has ZERO to do with COVID inflation and everything to do with innovation.

Price on the 370Z hasn't dropped that I've seen, which still has nothing to do with the sharp increase for the new Z.

It's 100% unwarranted.

At 51k I'm definitely out. It was so high on my list initially because of the manual option and the potential to heavily undercut the Supra, but those two advantages have since faded away. It doesn't help the Z when I see all the buttons and switchgear being the same as the G35 I had back in the day, especially when I'm supposed to believe it's worth 51k.

so I've been on and off about this car and early this year ordered a Miata Club at MSRP (~32k). I wanted a convertible anyway. The Sport Trim at 40k is a really good deal IMO but I know I wouldn't be able to get one at sticker. when the IS500 came out at 56k starting point I don't think I have ever seen one without a premium package pushing the price to 62k+, wonder if that will be the same here..

For another reference, according to "Car And Driver" MSRPs, the base Subaru BRZ (USD) pricings (with percent changes):
2019: $26,680
2020: $29,745 (10.9% increase from previous model year)
2021: (not in production)
2022: $28,990 (2.6% decrease from previous model year)
2023: $29,615 (2.1% increase from previous model year)

2019 - 2023 span price change: (10% increase)

Comparing same for base 370Z to Z (again using "Car And Driver" MSRPs):
2019: $31,015
2020: $31,040 ( 0.08% increase from previous model year)
2021: (not in production)
2022: (not in production)
2023: $39,990 ( 25.2% increase from previous model year)

2019 - 2023 span price change: (25% increase)

(Feel free to check my math on the above, I'm not good with calculations, lol.)
I'm calculating nearly a 29% price jump:
31,015 x 1.28937 = 39,990 (approximately)

Ok so..I’ll give up trying to justify it ( other than to say in Aus tye 370z dropped significantly over the years) and say…don’t buy it then….plenty of us still will

about 8.8% per year from 2020-2023 if assuming equal increases

The only thing I'm worried about is if/when my dealer will let me order the one that I want and that it'll be here sometime before I retire haha.

When did you put in your order? Did you get it yet? If not, do you have an ETA?

Just wondering cuz I put in an order (request) for a Miata Club back in March, but I still don't have a solid ETA. I may end up cancelling the order since I now have an NA Miata and my Cybertruck delivery will finally be coming in the next year-and-half or so... (PLEASE GOD, I HOPE SO)

Well sad to see it. I’d rather have a 370z NISMO at this point.

Imma test out a Supra. Seems that’s the go-to tuner car rn that isnt a boat

It's all bueno! I don't want to see the Z fail. Hopefully, nobody here does.
Yeah, I sure as hell won't be paying $50k+ for the new Z, but I certainly hope that it sells tremendously well and that there are a ton of reasonably-priced used ones on the market in the coming years after production recovers from the pandemic. I could easily see myself picking up a used one down the road.

I put my order in mid February. Did you get your VIN?

once I received the VIN, and the car was actually built, I can track it using this link

https://www.mazdausa.com/shopping-tools/inventory/new/2022-mazda-mx-5-miata?vin=VIN_GOES_HERE (replace end part)

mine says arrival to dealer at May 30th and I assume they have to PDI it, or maybe the ship is delayed or something (I hope not)

I had been looking for NC's forever but for a NC2 or 3 everyone wants 20-25k lol
