Any word from Flying Lizard on whether they will still run? They were still listed as having entered the Z for this GT4 season on the GT4 America site.

no they will not be running. the Zs are for sale. I cant speak to why the season is cancelled other than saying the reason you may read that was posted online about nissan focusing on their turn around isnt fully accurate

Sounds like I'll be patient and wait for their "official" reason explanation.

Now for some good Z GT4 related news.... Today was the opening round of Japan's Super Taikyu series and the TEAM ZEROONE had a 1-2 finish! These cars are also part of the Nissan mechanic challenge program. Team IMPUL finished a strong 6th.

That is almost more disheartening to know the cars are off to a solid start this season. Happy for them but bummed I can not see it in person. Was planning to go to the Sonoma opening round to support the team. Guess I am not going now.

I feel like I'm fishing here, so MCN1SMO, if this is too probing, I understand.

Did Nissan cancel their sponsorship of teams, or did teams just say, "Ya know, I just don't want to campaign this car this year?"

Seems like there is still Nissan interest in the Japan-based race series.....

on this one I cant really speak out of turn or overstep my bounds. only reason I alluded to anything at all was the head of zcca ( the one who was organizing the car corrals ect) put out an announcement and said it was due to nissan wanting to "focus on the the business turn around" which isnt entirely the case. I was a huge supporter and advocate for the GT4 program and teams and just felt to wrap it up in a nice tidy bow like that is kind of disingenuous to all the parties involved.

personally I would have just said due to unforeseen circumstances the program has been paused for the 2025 season leaving it vague without spinning into something topical in the news regarding nissan.

it just sucks because round 1 was supposed to be next weekend

This is definitely a bummer! I was planning on going to the race at Barber Motorsports in September. I did send a casual email to flying lizard confirming the news, and they said the are looking into 2026, but will see how things go, whatever that means.

I hope we can see the Z back in action at some point. The car seemed to be competitive. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Nissan’s been struggling on and off for decades. I thought the deal with Renault a while back was odd. They were scrounging for nickels and dimes then just like they are now. Hoped when the 350Z hit in ‘02-‘03 it would be a turning point, especially after they started running them in the GT300 class next to the GT500 GT-R’s. The fact that they turned down Honda’s offer (as I heard it) makes me think there is a path to making it on their own. Maybe that’s just my own stubborn optimism.
