I just watched a video of a Terminator. With duel 2.5” exhaust it put down 930 WHEEL HP. He swapped to duel 3” exhaust and didn’t put down any more power. So for anyone worried about duel 2.5” exhaust not being enough…. There you go. Also. Z1 puts down over 600 wheel through SINGLE 3”. With conservative tune. I would argue that adding 3” duel exhaust is adding more weight than power. Numbers don’t lie. The most important spot for large volume pipe is right after the turbo (down pipes). After that, duel 2.5” is not going to hinder anyone from putting down big numbers even with big turbos.

Point made ahhhhhh very telling. 3" FDP, there you go. If you choose 2.5 cat back then cool. Now FOR DUAL 3", titanium metal would drastically reduce weight and reduce back pressure. Thanks for sharing.

I think if with duel 2.5” @900+ WHP, and moving to duel 3” yielded zero gains it would show that there is no back pressure to mitigate. The only thing that changes between the two sized pipes would be exhaust velocity at the tail pipe.
Back pressure would be limiting the amount of CFM that could flow through and getting rid of that back pressure would then yield a measurable gain of some kind. It just goes to show that duel 2.5” can support HP numbers higher than 98% of VR30 owners. Now. That being said, there is nothing wrong with duel 3” exhaust. It’s not hurting anything. And yes. Technically duel 3” can support higher numbers than duel 2.5”. Evidently you would need to be over 930 WHP to find out where that horse power level is. Also, side note just in case, this has nothing to do with a naturally aspirated engine which do see gains with larger exhaust at lower hp numbers.

Some progress has been made on the car and it’s starting to wake up a bit.

the car came with Borla S-type cat back 2.5” exhaust and so far I have added;

AMS CAI - kind of a PITA due to space but a nice product. Minimal performance increase as expected but better intake sound for sure.

AMS Street LDP’s. Was surprised how well the install went yesterday. Zero issues and less than 2.5 hours start to finish. Definitely woke the car up a bit and exhaust note, especially under load and acceleration is much better. I know the Borla S- Type is considered a quieter set up but I’m happy with it now that the LDP’s are installed. My neighbors know when I’m coming or going but it’s not enough to piss anyone off.

Still waiting for my AMS heat exchanger to come in. Once I get that part and get it installed I will get it on a dyno and get it tuned and we will see where we are at. Car now has a whopping 2500 miles on it and I’m enjoying it and continuing to learn about the platform.

Anyone want to guess where I might end up with FWHP and HP / tq to the wheels. I’m guessing 12 to 15% driveline loss with the manual transmission.
Thanks gain for the feedback and advice.
