Welp, I misjudged a pothole sticking slightly out from scrapped construction road happening and it caught on to one of my awe resonator section and forced the exhaust out. I am upset at myself and learned my lesson to better be safe than sorry.

Nonetheless I’ve heard I can email awe and have them ship out just the individual parts I need but I don’t know if I should use this unfortunate opportunity to try a new catback. No hate to awe as i was happy with how the track edition sounded but been seeing the single exit tomei not sound too shabby. (The huge opening with burnt tips is a plus)

If I do decide to try a different exhaust I’m looking for something that can be a little more aggressive and track like. No idea if I can use the awe y pipe to the tomei single exhaust. Will have to look more into it.

As of my current build I have an ams cold air intake coming in, czp heat exchanger on, and will be ordering a lower downpipe in the near future.

Any recommendations of other catback exhaust that sounds great on the Z is much appreciated along with a a great pair of a certain catback and certain lower downpipes.

Glad the exhaust took the brunt of the impact and not the chassis!

I too have AWE. I'd personally be really interested in switching over to the Magnaflow SPEQ or xMOD system.

Count yourself lucky. A few years ago, when this neighborhood was under construction and they where a year + away from putting the final top layer of asphalt on. All the manhole sstuck up about an inch to 2 inches. My neighbor's son had a lowered 370 Z and one day he wasn't paying close enough attention to his driving line pulling out of his driveway. Ripped out the bottom of the trans and oil pans. In the couple seconds it took him to realize what happened the engine suffered enough damage to need a full rebuild.

Bye bye Z.

That’s awful, had to remove my exhaust an hour away from home in the middle of the street. I got rlly lucky I had my tool bag in the trunk and my friends car was right there to use his jack to lift just high enough. Will be going back under the car tomorrow morning to see any additional damage but I should be fine other than maybe some scratches

Take one for the team and do this. At least as an interim solution. Who knows, maybe a cobbled together super-cheap exhaust could sound good.

Although maybe those weren’t cheap, or aren’t cheap anymore. Back in the early ‘90s the local (not a chain) auto parts store stored/sold them standing up in an old 55 gallon drum with the top cut off. My assumption was they were cheap.

If you would like to replace that section of our system we can certainly help.

Reach out right here and let them know what happened. Parts are available for order by existing customers right this way: https://runawe.com/team-member
