The RX-7 sounds at 34:00 in the video are glorious and as good as it gets for me.

I learned to drive when I was 15 on a base model 1979 RX-7 4-spd manual with 20,000-30,000 miles. I saw that car have a stuck valve or something during its manual choke cycle, and blow oil smoke all the way down the highway. Can’t remember if I killed the choke or turned the engine off, but it stopped. Terrifying at 15-16 in a borrowed car. Never did it again.

Dad had a 1976 Vette and ‘81 Olds 98, sister had the RX-7. I inherited a visually blown-out 1979 5.0 Capri death trap with a built engine. Quickly moved to GTIs and had real sports cars since.

But the heavy unassisted steering on the old RX-7 was incredible. Transmission I thought was perfect. Absolute dream to drive for inline turbine-like power. My special move in that car was a drift into 2nd gear tire burning that is an irreplaceable automotive memory.

Thanks for posting these comments and videos. Now I need to find an RX-7. Oh no.
