I try to watch most of these Hagerty videos featuring Jason, and the production quality on some of them (CT5-V BW, M3 Comp) is really top notch. This one posted a day ago on the FD RX-7 is maybe not quite on the same level in that regard, but still well done and an interesting watch.

I doubt I'll never not want an FD ?

loooove fd's, my second favorite car behind the mkiv supra. after i sold my lakehouse a few months back, i decided to get more upgrades on both of mine. they are in a shop awaiting mods.

i lost most my pics when my phone died. these are the pics i took when sending them off. excuse the dirt...this was after the great texas ice age.

I enjoyed mine while I had it. In the cars I've owned, I'd rank it 3rd in fun behind my MKV Supra and Z32 TT. Got this one for $16k in 2015, auto trans, and just under 50k miles.

I love mine. Had it for about 7-8 years now. These cars are great cars BUT as we all know itā€™s definitely not a car for someone who isnā€™t mechanically inclined or doesnā€™t have a lot of disposable money. Iā€™m lucky enough to have been taught a lot on em and save loads on labor by doing stuff myself. First picture is literally the Craiglist ad picture from when I bought it. Next few are from the night of the purchase and the next morning. The final few were taken about a year or so ago. Also gonna ad I was able to purchase this before they blew up in price. I bought it running and driving with no issues and only slightly modded for just over 14k. It made the 800 mile trip home with no issue at all. Youā€™d be hard pressed to find one thatā€™s much more than a shell for that price now

At one time I was tempted to build one similar to Brian's (autox -> track), amazing build:

One of the biggest changes to the car was the switch to a Borg Warner EFR 8374 single turbo. That not only allowed the car to have as much low-end power as the twins but also allowed us to make far more power up top along with simplifying much of the complexity under the hood. Reworked front fenders and a C-West front bumper allowed us to go to 315mm tires on all four corners and we made the change to 18ā€ wheels around the same time.

What is your favorite bang for the buck mod on this car for Autocross or Track?
I would have to say my favorite is the Borg Warner EFR 8374 turbo. That coupled with the Full Race manifold cost more than a few bucks but created a lot of bang. The power delivery of the single turbo makes the car so much better to drive and allowed us to get to a power range we would have never been able to get to with the twins. It also greatly simplified everything in the engine bay allowing a much cleaner look. Not to mention the ease of troubleshooting problems is so much better now.

What would you say the carā€™s primary strength is?
I think the carā€™s primary strength is its light weight and agility. It has proven to be very competitive with the top cars in the series on the autocross and speed stop segments. And thatā€™s despite sometimes having a fraction of the power that those cars make. I attribute much of that success to the weight and agility. Physics tells us that changing directions of a lesser mass requires less force. That is how we are able to achieve equal results with less power.

I remember in the late 90's, early 2000's it was super popular to have multi-rotor rotary engines in sand rails. I wonder how that affected the supply of rebuildable rotaries?
