I am contemplating buying the AWE touring exhaust, but I am hesitant to spend the money without hearing in person. I bought one for my BMW M coupe and hated it so much it only stayed on the car a few days. I was wondering if there are any Z owners in or near Richmond VA with the AWE exhaust that would be willing let me hear it? Sound clips on the computer just don't tell the whole story of what it sounds like in the cabin while cruising.

Hello from fellow RVA Z enthusiast! I haven’t seen a new Z around town so I’ll keep a lookout for you!

Yes, I have not seen any around either. Mine has been sitting in the garage for last couple weeks due to the salt on the roads. I did get to drive it today, but likely will have to leave it parked next week with new storm and very cold temps.

I haven’t had my 280 out in a couple of months for the same reason. Hopefully winter will be brief. Maybe I’ll see you at a Coffee/Cars sometime. I hope you get an answer re the exhaust sound. Cheers.

I assume you already watched this clip?

Yes, I watched this and several others and ultimately placed an order for the touring version.

I'm Williamsburg, I was looking the AWE bc you can switch from track to Touring and vice versa. The only thing is the complains I have read about the Touring muffler fitment on the passenger side. I went with the Stillen Track exhaust in the Black Friday sale. Is a little bit loud at low speed but in the highway is ok.

I just installed it this weekend. A little of a pain as I had to hammer the pipes where they went over a rear cross brace. I tried slipping shims in before tightening everything, but it still was too close for comfort. Last thing I wanted was a rattle. Yes, I did have issue with fitment of the right exhaust tip. It was too close to bumper. So, I set it back far enough to clear. I may try to shim the hanger bracket down to see it that works. As far as sound, it does provide a good rumble at idle and under acceleration. Even though they claim to have anti drone technology built in, there is noticeable drone at idle and around 2k rpms. Unfortunately, 2k rpm is 45-55 mph in 6th gear. They claim sound will mellow after 800 or so miles. I may look into adding Helmholtz (j pipe) resonator if there is room. Ideal would be something in between stock and this system. Other than cost, I am not sure why Nissan cheaped out with a Y pipe exhaust. It looks like the Nismo version is true dual all the way to the dual inlet muffler. I bought this on sale as the Nismo version was a good bit more at $1700-2000.
