Honestly, I could have been more polite, but I’m telling you what you need to know. You’re creating a bunch of shock to multiple mechanical systems and hearing them flop around out of their design range of operation. You’re lucky the car is solid enough to not be damaged from trying to figure out why it’s mad. Just stop beating it down and you’ll be fine.
this, 100%.

I mean, I highly highly doubt that Nissan didn't calculate that type of "shock" into the design of the car. There are no historical concerns of stalling causing major issues on the Z platform, and the transmission, while slightly different over the 350/370/Z, is basically still the same MT.

Not trying to defend bro, but you guys, while saying mostly the right thing, are a little over the top lol.

I googled this just now and yeah, you guys are way over the top saying "it'll cause so much shock to the system and damage things"... c'mon. He's learning. Stalling isn't going to harm anything. Now if he does it hundreds of times over a week and does that for weeks then yeah, trade in your car

Pro tip - make sure your seat is far enough/close enough to get the right amount of angle at your knee to line up with the sweet spot on the clutch. Repetition drives feeling, and feeling becomes natural.

LOL. Y’all guys are making me want to delete the thread/post. :giggle:

All is good y’all…just a new MT driver here. I don’t stall all the time, but I did hear this once when I did and it concerned me so I replicated the issue and posted a video to ask…

I really do thank yall for the input and am about 80% convinced that it’s normal…

Im kind of paranoid/crazy about things like this and am never satisfied. I do need to learn to just leave things alone and enjoy the car :fistbump:

I get it man. Brand new car. Just released. New MT driver learning, not sure what's up. I'd be concerned too. But you're all good man

Not a technician, but its kind of self explanatory that if you are willingly doing something abnormal to your car that results in an abnormal noise, the logical decision would be to not repeat that which causes the problem.

What you're doing doesn't make sense; Its comparable to letting a car run low on oil and getting rod knock, then filling it back up with oil, having the sound go away, then intentionally doing the same thing again while asking other people to try and replicate your situation.

This isn't specific to a Z car, you're stalling the car out and that is causing stress on the drivetrain which is likely the source of the noise you are hearing. It's basic troubleshooting steps, you replicate the conditions upon which the issue in question presents itself, only this isn't an abnormal condition, you are intentionally stalling the car out, of course its going to make an uncomfortable noise. Don't believe me? Try driving with the Ebrake up, or starting off in 3rd gear. Plenty of weird noises to be had if you try that, but don't try that.
Yep my first inclination was more or less normal noise whenever you stall a manual vehicle. As some have already posted if you think there’s an issue take it to the dealer that’s what the warranty is for.

Thanks for your reply.

I hate taking my car to the dealer though. I’ll just try not to stall it anymore lol…

Have a good night ✌

NP, I know how it is to own a new car and hear noises you can’t explain! Enjoy your Z I’m trying to enjoy mine.

You're exactly right about the variance. It must be normal. About the stalling, I'll get better at driving and stop doing this sh*t. Thanks for the reply! :fingerscrossed:
i understand doing it unintentionally, it happens. Not the worst thing you can do. I just wouldn’t try to do it.

I learned how to drive a MT in a 350Z with a track clutch. That was difficult, but the plus side, you're going to be able to drive any manual car, truck, military truck, etc without any issues. You got it bro
growing up all the family cars were autos. So i learned on my friends cars and where i worked a summer job in school.

I learned on a ford pinto, Datsun b210 & an 80’s Chevy full size work van with 3 on the column. the work van was the first solo drive. the boss asked if could drive a manual -i asked him did it have a steering wheel. It was parked against the building and i had no idea where reverse was. It was 50 mile round trip in heavy traffic. When i got back i could drive a 3 on the tree and few trips later it needed a new clutch.

Thanks for your comment! I am learning that it was a good/fun choice (the MT). It'll be a lot more fun when I am more confident with it after a couple of months...
