I have a car that has these marks on the A pillars. It doesn't feel rough on the hand. I'm thinking possible imperfection in clear coat.

Would a light polish fix this? It is not peeling paint so don't think, but not sure, that it would rip off paint in sheets!

I need some speedy help, please, due to my situation. Thank you in advance!!!

Hard to tell from photo. Any reason for not trying clay, cleaner wax or polish? looks like something similar on the windshield near the vin number. did the dealer add a paint sealant?

Clay it and report back.

Why? Because I cant believe any car would make it out of QC checks with that much wrinkle (?) in the clear.

Silver Bullet beat me by like 2 seconds!

I haven't tried because I'm 3 hours from the car! It is not a new Z, it is a 370Z from 2017. Granted otherwise it's in perfect condition so really not sure...it's on both pillars.

I haven't polished specifically due to the fear that it could rip out the clear coat and make it worse... I'm no pro and probably over thinking it.

I will likely try to cleaner wax it when I'm able. My deadline is this weekend and I'll only have a few hours to work on it, hence trying to get a plan of attack now!

Thank you for your comments!

Nah man cut it first (be mildly aggressive if you have the clear for it) then polish it. Here is a post on the gladiator forum where I corrected a bit deeper quickly. This is not technique, just good products (seriously, don’t waste time with Mothers/mcquires anything from a compound or polish standpoint. They’ve idiot proofed their products to near useless) so yeah man get after it!

If these are small rock hits that are deep enough, there may be a limit on how much better you can really make it appear. Assuming it's mostly just the two spots on the A-pillars, I'd start with a quick clean using some detail spray (or CarPro Eraser) and a clean microfiber, followed up with a couple passes using clay or a synthetic clay mitt/towel/bar...if the spots remain, try to polish them out, ideally using a DA, and an appropriate pad. If that's not enough, move on to a compound and a more aggressive pad, I've had good luck correcting some pretty badly abused paint with Griot's Fast Correcting Cream from their BOSS line paired with their white and/or orange pads. Once you've gotten the results your looking for, I'd finish with a sealant or wax to add a little protection. Best of luck!

No it's my vehicle - not at a dealership or anything.

Primer?! No way - that sounds terrible. The paint doesn't even feel rough (to my memory). My 2001 Lexus with 280,000 miles and peeling clear coat isn't even showing primer 😫😫
