I’ve had my 2024 Sport for about a week. Really like the car. Trying to get it dialed in for my tastes. One thing I have not been able to figure out is how to get HD FM radio stations. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Pretty sure Sport doesn’t have HD radio.

...And even if it did, the speakers stink terribly.

Might be a thread on it here about Sport audio improvements that can be made.... ;)

Does the performance trim have HD radio?

a year later and i still can not find the HD radio stations. Is the HD reception automatic or do I have to enable in settings some where?

I’ve never seen the HD symbol displayed on the radio screen…

No, just for radio listening enjoyment. Added nothing to the thread here, but as others have stated, the radio in the Z period is weak.

Personally, I turn the radio off or way down so I can listen to the exhaust and/or turbo spool.

If the performance trim has a FM HD radio, im starting to think.the 80’s radio antenna can not pull in the HD signal. Maybe time for a an 80’s whip antenna mod.. lol

any one able to access HD channels?

From the ‘25 NissanConnect manual…

“HD RadioTM Technology reception (if so equipped) HD Radio Technology reception needs to be activated to receive HD Radio broad-casts. "Radio menu" (p. 38) This enables you to receive radio broad-casts digitally (where available), providing a better quality sound with clear reception. When this feature is not activated or HD Radio broadcasts are not available, you will receive analog radio (AM/FM) broadcasts.”

page 36 is a picture of the HD on/off button & page 38 as referenced above. I never see this HD button as Shown on page 36. So either a weak single from the 80’s antenna or the performance trim does not have HD like the sport….

i wonder if HD can be turned on via consult 3+ factory vs marketing mode?

another possible feature disabled by default?

i am unable to receive HD radio stations due to one of three issues, the Z’s 80’s radio antenna (signal strength issue), the radio is not HD capable or the feature is turned off (because of XM?)

I do not know - but I wonder if the feature is disabled and can be enabled similar to ASE / ANC?

I found info about the factory mode vs market mode for the Multimedia/AV system that may turn on/off features like HD radio.

i have a ‘25 performance…

anyone have similar experience (no HD sub-channel reception) with performance / Nismo?

TBH, HD stations sucks IMO. Its not always available, cuts in an out when driving due to poor signal in certain areas. If its equipped, I turn it off every chance I get. That being said, my '24 Sport Trim does not have HD option. Or its there and I ignore it 😅

What do you mean by "80's radio antenna"?

maybe i should call it the windshield antenna. It was main stream in the late 70’s and was quickly abandon in the early 80’s due to poor performance & reliability.

Nissan is using an amp to boost the signal but not sure that is good enough for HD - so i’m speculating the antenna maybe the reason why the Z does not have a HD radio. XM radio maybe another. I imagine that window tint like 3M Black Chrome would kill the reception.

I agree - i mostly listen to a local sports talk radio station, otherwise I’m listening to to my playlist. I’m just surprised that a ‘25 radio does not have HD.

My ‘14 taco has it - i didn’t know it for years until a co-worker told me he was listening to espn on HD.

Window antennas are very common to this day. Many vehicles have 2 or more diversity antennas, one might be part of a shark fin. I believe the new 4Runner has the window antenna in the back side window.

My wife's Corolla HB has HD radio (and remote start 🤣) and it only works well in areas with a strong signal. Where we live is hilly, and I can't get much over the air radio on anything, cars, boat, home radio. We also don't get a reliable XM Radio signal either, we're close to Canada and the XM satellites are configured to not broadcast into Canada.
