Getting ready to do my first oil change at 1500 miles. Looking for thoughts on which oil and weight. 2024 performance manual. All stock and will not be doing any track days. SF Bay area so not to hot or to cold. I will be adding a undershroud and deciding between the Z1 or the CZP. Any thoughts on those two would be appreciated. BTW: Love the car, the only glitch so far is the Apple car play is fussy to connect sometimes.

Thanks

If using the car as intended by Nissan, I’m a fan of follow what the engineers at Nissan say and use 0/20 oil. I use whatever is on sale I’ve not found a brand that did not meet the standards set out in the owners manual.

I have the Z1 undershroud and love it. The service panel is awesome.

Enjoy the new ride!

I redeemed a "Free First Oil Change" with the dealership I bought my car at, so factory recommended 0w20 for now. I agree that it depends on your driving, plans, and if you'll modify it. there are a few threads talking about different oils.

Hey I would say stick to to stock on oil, the only people I would suggest consider something different are people in the southern states and even then I'd probably only use something heavier in the summer.

That being said, can I ask what your problems with apple car play is? I'm currently on android and am considering switching to apple just for the wireless carplay (vs wired on android).

Any insight you can give that might sway my decision would be greatly appreciated!

I highly recommend using Nissan Oil Change Kit for the Z. It can be purchased online for about 60 bucks. Comes with 0w-20 oil, filter and new crush washer. This will follow the Z warranty. Take pictures of the kit next to the Z, dash showing miles, and keep the receipts. Also, purchase a Z1 Oil Fill Funnel, part # 22044. Worth the $$ for ease of use.

I purchased my Z(looks just like yours) last April. Start a binder for the Z to keep all paperwork, photos, registration, insurance, maintenance log etc.. Enjoy!

THE hardest fact for a manufacturer to fight is seeing an oil kit receipt with unique date, that matches your service log, photographed with your miles showing on your dash behind it.

I’ve thought it through. You can fake basically everything except that, without photoshop and stupid, desperate measures like that.

What you’re saying, definitely do that. I even cut off the UPCs from jugs and filter boxes. But get the receipt photo with the miles. Timestamp anything you can think of. Honestly I think receipt, physical UPC labels, the photo with miles, and a log with a revision history, is undeniable proof in a court of law unless you botch something in the process and ruin everything. Incomplete or botched in any way will be thrown out.

One thing to watch is the oil filter bypass valve spec. Racebox posted the Nissan bulletin about this late last year. You want a Nissan 15208-65F1A or B. Wix, K&N & others use the VQ35/37 engine's lower spec which might bypass dirty oil into circulation when used on our VR30. This is mainly only going to happen when the filter clogs up with sludge but still Nissan made the change.
