Good you caught the added friction modifier. I like to break in the diff clutches by driving figure 8s at 9 - 10 MPH with steady throttle & diff oil at operating temp. Light colored paving will show faint tire marks.
BTW, Nismo makes this LSD for other Nissans and it can be converted to 2-way...
I agree with yellowz6mt. Tire temp is really important and the industry joke is performance cars come stock at no extra cost with 3 season tires. I sometimes check this out but only in a straight line. The tach goes up and the yellow warning flashes on dry winter road in 2nd.
Some pads conduct more heat into backing plates than others. Manufactures are tight lipped about this but it's worth a try making contact. The good news is your fluid didn't boil which is why I always check pedal feel after heat soak. Both the dust seals & fluid reach really high temps after...
I'm guessing the 400 Hp engine used in the Z has 2 sensors because the turbo RPM at full boost is getting a little edgy for the compressors. I see slightly more PSI with faster spin up using octane boost but don't like using the chemistry for daily driving. It might be possible to read both...
The VR30DDTT 400Hp engine has a speed sensor for each turbo according to https://www.infinitiq50.org/threads/vr30ddtt-engine-reference-page.124743/
I'm guessing the analog gauge shows a highly damped average of both for driver readability. Most of street driving is done with low turbo revs but...
Heat degrades clutch fluid even faster than the fluid in street driven brakes. Smart manufactures keep the fluids separated in different reservoirs. Changing helps keep the slave cylinder seals happy.
Lake Speed Jr. recently showed some data on YouTube that indicated even modern engines are still breaking in at 10k miles. Matt's 2nd report is what I'll use for comparison to my Z after similar mileage.
I think the stock Exedy has really good feel for normal street driving. I didn't do any really high RPM shifting or use launch control until after the Nissan break-in mileage. The biggest mistake people make with any clutch is asking too much before the disk, flywheel & pressure plate surfaces...
I think the vertical red-line is standard sport display. People sometimes turned analog tachs in the dashboard to put max rpm up on British & Italian sports cars. I never saw this on 240Zs or Bimmers when I worked for Datsun and BMW.
Keep in mind that the purpose of the bypass is to prevent filter sludge from starving oil flow. Decent quality oil & reasonable change intervals produce almost no sludge, even in short trip cold engine driving.
As others say the temp depends on how hard the diff & limited slip clutches are working. Mine showed 220 ℉ after an hour of uphill mountain driving last summer. Cooling airflow under the Z's rear is probably just as bad as the 370Z which I've heard is terrible compared to the original S30...
Charging a diagnostic fee is common in the U.S. industry. In this case after testing the CAN bus, checking DTCs and power/ground connections the display unit is being replaced under warranty. The up front diagnostic fee should be refunded and should be so stated in your repair order paperwork.
The Z Sport comes with an open differential so there's no clutch friction material to accumulate and need frequent gear oil changes. Manual gearbox oil does deteriorate but not very fast. Lots of S-Mode downshifts might warrant more frequent changes.
Long life spark plugs for forced induction...
The graphic looks like the forward and side hazard warning radar is unhappy. This system is independent of the parking sensors and I can tell the side part is working by the amber light near the outside mirror when someone passes.
Stuck rotors and alloy wheels get pounded loose all the time in...
I enjoyed the above video by Lake Speed Jr. He tells it like it is & is extremely qualified. He helped Joe Gibbs win NASCAR championships using a special synthetic oil that didn't overheat while drafting. The competition overheated and had less horsepower to pass while the drivers for Gibbs...
Keep in mind that viscosity is only part of how well oil protects. I've seen tests done in Germany where a high quality 0W-16 gave less wear than a generic 5W-30 under identical autobahn & short trip driving. Because of direct fuel injection, our Zs get some fuel dilution and soot contamination...
One thing to watch is the oil filter bypass valve spec. Racebox posted the Nissan bulletin about this late last year. You want a Nissan 15208-65F1A or B. Wix, K&N & others use the VQ35/37 engine's lower spec which might bypass dirty oil into circulation when used on our VR30. This is mainly only...
I checked into this and found the recommended fluid for the stock Performance LSD is mineral based GL-5. Both Pennzoil and Torco have such products with Torco recommending adding their "type F" friction additive. Probably any GL-5 gear oil will work if it has an LSD clutch friction additive...
I think this bleed pattern came about years ago when dual master cylinders split the brakes diagonally. This front to opposite side rear connection was to keep the car stopping straight if half the system failed.
I like using a tool with external brake fluid reservoir that pressurizes the...
Toe alignment plays a huge role, especially with wide low profile tires. Be sure to compare the rear to front as there could be an unfavorable additive effect at their spec limits. Something else I'd check is the engine compartment under tray to make sure the air flow is smooth all the way back...
