I have the Sport Trim

Wondering if Nissan releases updates for our infotainment system with new maps, features, etc when they become available?

Does Nissan allow us to do this ourselves to download latest firmware on a USB thumb drive and update our own infotainment system?

Most the of the audio/infotainment updates can be done OTA (over the air) via Wifi. Just go under connections, then tab over to wifi, connect to a reliable wifi source and then you can search for audio updates.

At the dealer we do just download the update file to a USB and then update the system. Don't think the files are downloadable anywhere as a consumer.

Yeah, I guess I was just trying to see if anyone had seen an update. I haven't seen an update since I bought my car in April 2023.

I bought my 2024 Performance AT just off the truck in September 2023. My software versions all appear to be later than yours. I don’t know if these are the versions that were on the car originally, or if they’re updated as part of the automatic updates or when I’ve manually updated.

Thanks for posting this. It could be the difference between 23 and 24 and AT vs MT, but definitely the map and navigation versions look newer.

My car claims there are no updates available.

But my Nissan app says I should have the "Over the Air Update Capability".

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has ever received an update.

Yea that is weird, guess I haven't payed too much attention to sport vs performance, I know they do have different audio units but didn't know wifi was left out on the sports. That's a bummer. I'll find the sports most current software number tomorrow and let you know what it is.

Yes, the software versions are different. The question is why. I know that manufacturers will update some hardware, especially “infotainment” electronics, in some vehicles year over year, or even mid-year and not mention It. I’ve been told thats often due to availability of new,They did that with my 2015 GMC 1/2-ton. My truck didn’t have CarPlay or some other infotainment features whereas later 2015’s did. I upgraded by buying new OEM radio modules with the necessary faster chips. So, while the 2023 and 2024 are ostensibly exactly the same, it’s likely that some un-advertised tweaks were added and new, faster hardware in the infotainment system might be one of them. Nissan did the same ”tweaking” thing periodically during the life of the Z34 also.

When I did the last “over the air” update, the car first required that I establish a Wi-Fi connection. I was in the garage so I did so by logging the car into my home wif-fi. The car has its own Wi-Fi (part of the free Nissan Connect that came with the car) but it wasn’t logged into that.

I confess, I’m very leery of the move toward having all cars connected to WiFi al all times. I don’t like the idea of the ”authorities” being able to log into my car and control it remotely. That capability has been available to them since GM rolled out OnStar and is becoming more ubiquitous as that technology is deployed in more and more vehicles.

@Who.Am.Eye.2716, from the brochure for the 23 models, it looks like the Sport may not have Wi-Fi.

It does look like you have a different "software version" than me.

Alright guys, there has not been any audio software updates released yet from Nissan on any year or trim level Z. Sorry guys, if I notice when one rolls out I'll try and update.

The infotainment and map software versions on my 2024 Performance Z are both later versions than @bpeckham's 2023 Performance Z

According to the Nissan infotainment software update utility tool we use from Asist for audio updates, none have been released yet. Possible just different versions between the two model years.
