Hey Nissan, if you guys happen to peruse these owner groups looking for feedback, then these high-gloss black surfaces all over the place in interior is something I certainly hope you never do again. Whoever decided this was a good idea should be fired. The blinding glare these surfaces produce, particularly from the media center when sun is bright, is downright horrific (and I have fairly dark tint on all windows too). Talk about distracting when driving. Here's an example pic of what I'm referring to. BAM! Nasty glare right in the eyes. Oh, and all this glossy black is a nightmare for keeping clean from dust and fingerprints as well. Please don't make this same mistake on any future Zs. Plenty other material surfacing options available you guys could choose from instead that would alleviate these nuisances and also look/feel great.

It is confirmed. The end of the world is nigh.
Sorry, not following. Are you sure you’ve got the right thread here?

ps: If what you say happens to be true, certainly hope you make the most of whatever time remains. Carpe diem.

They also get scratches easily. Gloss black surfaces on exterior and interior have been a cost cutting measure for many years now

Yep, I’m hearing from others on another Z group that they too are not thrilled with having to deal with this same annoying issue.

A possible band-aid remedy learned about is having non-glare matte PPF type film applied. I’ll post back here with the details in a bit.

OK, here's that non-glare matte PPF application I mentioned learning about from another Z owner who had it done. He said the material is called 'Xpel Stealth' ( https://www.xpel.com/ ) and that authorized dealers/installers of it have a digital library of patterns that they use to precision cut shapes and that they already have a collection for the new Z that included the media center as shown here in his photos. I'm curious though why each of the buttons below the display and knobs on sides weren't treated as well. Anyway, looks like this might do the trick in reducing all the annoying glare, dust, fingerprints, etc. Why Nissan didn't just make the surfaces like this to begin with as the plastic itself is perplexing. Going to be looking into this fix soon for self, and hopefully get the buttons/knobs done too.

It looks good But... the glare actually happens from the side were the buttons are...

In my experience the glare happens from all over the media center depending on angle of sun at the time, but yes, the row of buttons is one of those reflective areas. That's why I'm looking into having each of the buttons treated with matte/non-glare Xpel Stealth film along with rest of media center's facing surface.

This was a huge problem with the silver centerpiece by the shifter in their first few models of R35 GT-Rs also, both the CBA and DBA. Was incredibly frustrating to want to drive ....sporty and having to turn it down to be safe so you can see.

They fixed it in later models so hopefully it'll get fixed for us also and we can swap parts if needed :)

The glare off the lower buttons is pretty bad. The display, I don't see that much ... time of day adjustments of course. I have setup an appointment to darken tint and ceramic coat the exterior and wheels with and Xpel authorized (and veteran owned) company. I will ask about this treatment and follow up on the results.
Thanks for posting and all that shared to the thread!

UPDATE: The company doing the work can take care of this. My appt is on the 20th and will take 3 days before I pick the car back up (ceramic coating on the exterior). I will post an update.

UPDATE 2: The company didn't do anything to the interior ... apparently my request wasn't passed on to the people that did the work. The car looks great with the darker tint and ceramic coat (the black really pops), but I haven't driven the past few days ... car is skectchy on rain soaked roads. I'll follow up again.

Update 3: The glare still sucks, as I said before depends on the time of day and the angle. I can deal with it for the few miles I drive at that angle. I would really like to find a carbon fiber look to cover the lower buttons where the glare comes from.

The glare from this poorly designed media center area is downright brutal at times. Even sunglasses can't temper the distraction.

If you still have this problem, like I did... also I was always seeing distracting reflections of trees and such driving by.. I got one of these and solved the issue. I think they have a few different finish options but they come precut to fit very well. The set I got comes with covers for the triple cluster and main dash screen also, but i only used the ones on the infotainment screen and buttons in a matte finish and it looks soooo much better with very little glare or reflections
i'm sure there are other similar ones, but I will say this one came with a nice all-you-need-except-water kit, quality seemed good to me (not overly thin), written instructions, very easy to do. To my novice eye it hasn't blurred the screen. It's not lived through one of my brutally hot humid summers yet though; jury may be out to see if it survives w/o blistering or such!
