Yeah, you'd have to buy the adapter plug but that would be the way to go. I still do not know why the performance spec uses an extra two pins, though. A quick search showed a few but I don't know if they are compatible with the pinouts for the 8 pin Z.
Okay, it's a good lead to follow. Thanks. I'll update the thread once I know more.

OEM dashcam was factory installed and it is down right horrible. I think most of the issues are in the junk app required to operate it. The app will not stay connected so basically the Cam is worthless. Dealer said there is nothing they can do with the app.

If the app wasn't abhorrent it would be a lot more tolerable for what it is (though even without the app, what it 'is' 'isn't' great.) I'd never pay out of pocket for it even if the app worked well though. image quality just isn't there compared to the higher resolution ones on the market at the same price point.

Another glaring issue is the SD card. I believe it comes with an 8gb card and you can only "upgrade" it to a 16gb card, so not a lot of wiggle room.

The silver lining for anyone that has it already installed at this point is that if/when you decide to buy a decent one, all you need is the adapter plug and it should be a fairly easy install/upgrade at that point.

Don't get me wrong though, it's better than having nothing, but that's only because having nothing is just that, nothing.

I bouught a 70mai 4K front and 1080P rear dashcam. I didn't want to have any power cables dangling or sourcing power from the fusebox. So like others have said, I piggybacked power from the rear view mirror and bought extra short USB cable for the dashcam.

Another thing I didn't want to do for the rear dashcam was to have cable exposed on the rear hatch, so I ended up putting the rear facing camera just above the rear view mirror, and cut off 95% of the cable and re-soldered it. It's a compact little set up and barely noticeable when driving.

Two weeks ago I bought a Redtiger F7N Touch. I installed it in my DD (2014 Charger RT AWD) to try out. I have not messed with it a whole lot to see how it is doing. Even though I have not tried the Redtiger app. The F7NT is already way better and came with a 128 card.

What does the video look like with the rear camera installed there?

Another good option. I like that it is tucked up a bit. I find the view angles are already restricted with the large rear view mirror so every bit helps.

That mirror looks like the one I have in my Sport. So, that tells me there should be enough ports for me to power at least one camera. Good to see. Thx.

This is the rear camera, which I just realised it's slightly tilted which I'll now fix. But I think this is enough to see the rear and both rear quarters, as this only meant to compliment the front camera, I personally much prefer this set up than having too many components spread out in the cabin.

Yeah, I'm definitely of the opinion that dashcams shouldn't be seen or visible when you're driving.

Can't see anything in the rear tho, not sure if it will be helpful if anything occurs in the rear.

I also have the 70mai and I have my rear cam installed on the rear window, I don't see it except for a bit of a wire dangling.

If your mirror is the same, then it is a 7 pin OEM plug, which only comes with accessories (not constant power) and ground. Whereas the Homelink mirrors that you guys get in the US, has 10 pins, which also has constant power if you want continuous recording.

If I had the 10 pin plug, I would have opted for something like this:
https://dongar.tech/en-ca/products/dongar-pro?variant=46722691268832#learnmore

Having the ability to turn on/off continous recording, mainly when I park for an extended period.

But I ended up with this:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...order_list.order_list_main.101.5cee1802AdfkW6

And since only 2 out of 7 pins/cables has a purpose, I removed the remaining 5 to make it even less visible:

Do you use yours when parked as well?

For me personally, I think if any damage occurs in the rear (when driving), it would be pretty self-explanatory, and as restricted as what I have now, I think there should be enough evidence from the videos (front/back) and audio, should an accident occur. I definitely chose form over function 😅

I don't have the parking on.

This is what I see with my setup in the rear view mirror.

I may upgrade to the Homlink mirror. Not just for the always recording feature but more because I prefer to have the door activated by the car.
