My car came with the factory dash cam and it's big and the app is hard to get sorted. I persevered and it works fine for me. Would be very hard to recommend however.
Agreed, for $360 it would pay for a vey nice aftermarket unit and then some more.If the app wasn't abhorrent it would be a lot more tolerable for what it is (though even without the app, what it 'is' 'isn't' great.) I'd never pay out of pocket for it even if the app worked well though. image quality just isn't there compared to the higher resolution ones on the market at the same price point.

This is what I plan to do, just have to figure out the wiring part. The silver lining for anyone that has it already installed at this point is that if/when you decide to buy a decent one, all you need is the adapter plug and it should be a fairly easy install/upgrade at that point.
How did you manage to get it to function? My car came with the factory dash cam and it's big and the app is hard to get sorted. I persevered and it works fine for me. Would be very hard to recommend however.
Oh my sweet summer child. Enter App hell. There are different ways to connect with the camera, cloud vs recorder. I settled for recorder direct. The steps to get there would befuddled the greatest alchemists. Technically I followed the directions I found online. Ill try and pull them back up and post here. It was hell but now I can pair and view recordings reliably. Not sure if it stays paired but that doesn't matter. It saves and deletes video automatically. How did you manage to get it to function?
In my case the app will not stay connected. Once it connects it will say not connected after a few seconds however iphone thinks it is still connected but the app is not.
That is the way I have been trying to connect. Directly phone to camera. I get connected in then when I try to do anything, the app tells me I am not connected.Oh my sweet summer child.
