My new Z has a problem with the seat making a noise, I barley noticed it before however I figured out how to make the sound when i move the right way on the seat. Id mostly hear it getting in, It seems a large guy might of sat in it and pop something, I mean its not terrible but its annoyed me since the 1st time I sat in it. Im hoping this may go away but its most likely a spring busted or something like that. Seems like a whiny thing to complain about, I don't even think Id take it in because the dealership I bought its from is over 2 hours away. Plus they might ruin more changing the seat, Ive had something similar happen with a new Infinity and it wasn't pretty. Not sure what to do but hope it settles in somehow.

It’s constant in my car. I just turn the radio up and spray more lube on the horrible seatbelt contraption that constantly rattles. But yeah I hear the seat all day long. Another on the endless list of annoyances.

My clutch sometimes creaks when I push it. I think my G37 had the same problem. If I recall correctly, it was a faulty bushing. I'll try to make a recording. My seat seems fine, but I also hear a creaking noise getting out of the car with the parking brake engaged (which is probably expected).

Thanks for the replies, everyone — I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, this seat issue has gotten worse. It’s no longer just a small annoyance — it’s now a recurring noise that feels like it’s going to become a serious problem down the road.

Here’s the backstory:

When I picked up the car at the dealership, a very large guy brought it out and offered to help set up my Bluetooth before I left. I said sure. When he sat in the passenger seat, I was honestly shocked — the seat looked like it was going to fold in half like a beach chair. I was immediately annoyed. As someone who’s worked around cars, I feel like he should have known better than to drop full weight into a fresh seat like that. To be clear — I had no idea the seat would react that way when he got in.

Anyway, on my drive home I started hearing a faint creaking sound. I figured it might just settle in with time. But I also noticed that the passenger seat was visibly creased for a good 20 minutes after he got out. I got him out of that seat ASAP — he was barely in the car 3 minutes.

Now I’m hearing louder noises when I shift in the driver’s seat — and I can only imagine what this will sound like by 30,000 miles. I hate being “that guy” who complains about stuff like this, but I’m honestly pissed, especially because I know it wasn’t me who damaged the seat. This should have been caught or prevented by the dealership.

My Question:

I bought the car out of state, and I won’t be going back there — partly because it’s far, and partly because I don’t trust them not to retaliate if I show up with a complaint like this.

So I’m asking:
🔧 How difficult is it for a local Nissan dealer to replace the seat under warranty?
Is this a simple unbolt-and-swap job, or does it involve interior trim, airbags, sensors, etc.?

I really don’t know much about seat internals, but it sounds like something popped or cracked inside. If anyone has experience with seat replacements or warranty service on this — I’d really appreciate any advice before I decide whether to bring it in or live with it.

Thanks again for reading this far.

I doubt anything is broken, or that you could convince a dealership to replace the seat(s). Any Nissan is gonna have some squeaks and rattles

If you want to try a warranty claim then you just take it in to any dealership and register the complaint and have them check it for defects. If you tell them a big guy broke it, then it will not be covered under warranty because it's not a defect, it's a big guy breaking it.

This is an update/ PSA.
Took the car to Nissan service, they were not happy about writing up a "creaking seat" but they checked it anyway and they found the seat frame/ spring WAS busted. They replaced it after about a month of waiting for parts etc. They damaged the door leather somehow which im not surprised to see, i just hope this is all the damage. Anyway, The tech agreed with me. These seats are not made for heavy people. Fair warning to all.

The back vinyl runs on the plastic behind the seat and causes noise. Move the seat up to stop it.

Robot AZ, this is a tricky repair, The chair will never be a like yours, or a new one again. but Id say the issue seems 80 percent better. This is why im not big on after market stuff, I really dont want anyone working on my car unless necessary. Lots of times they break stuff while installing. Keep any Xtra large people out your seats!

I mean move the seat up or put something behind it. I have not heard other creaking sounds beyond the vinyl rubbing the interior plastic behind the seat. Even a towel would work if that’s where the noise is coming from. I’ve just been too lazy to look into it. Good luck.
