Anyone know what the high pitched whine in the sound clip is (6MT)?

Sound clip of high pitched whine

The whine only happens on cold start and goes away once the car has warmed up a bit. It's been happening since new, so I've just ignored it. The sound goes away if you depress the clutch. It sounds kinda like straight cut gears ? . Happens in neutral or when driving. The clip you heard was driving in first through a garage.

I'm not worried as the transmission feels good, just more or less curious.

I've only had one instance where I had to manage the noise. I started my car and my neighbor came over for a chat. I couldn't hear a lick of what he was saying because of how loud it was XD.

Maybe something to do with the input shaft bearing at cold temperatures vibrating at a specific resonance triggering this sound? Idk tbh.

Wow was that clip unedited? It sounded like it was recorded underwater in a haunted lake. Definitely have never heard a car make sounds like that in my entire life, I'd have nissan take a look at it.

i have to agree with zenogias. its low quality. i cant tell. my 6mt does not have a whine on cold start.

Crappy phone recording XD. I did my best editing the clip in audacity by selecting noisy clips and applying their noise reduction algorithm.

I heard a very light whine after start-up only once with my 6MT. Car hadn't been started for 2 weeks and the sound went away after about a minute. Didn't notice if the clutch had any effect as I let the engine idle in neutral.
