Sound clip of high pitched whine
The whine only happens on cold start and goes away once the car has warmed up a bit. It's been happening since new, so I've just ignored it. The sound goes away if you depress the clutch. It sounds kinda like straight cut gears
. Happens in neutral or when driving. The clip you heard was driving in first through a garage.
I'm not worried as the transmission feels good, just more or less curious.
I've only had one instance where I had to manage the noise. I started my car and my neighbor came over for a chat. I couldn't hear a lick of what he was saying because of how loud it was XD.
Maybe something to do with the input shaft bearing at cold temperatures vibrating at a specific resonance triggering this sound? Idk tbh.
