I'd like a dashcam for my new Z, and saw this option when I "built" my ideal Z. I now have a new 2023 Z but the dealer could not get this option for several weeks.

Any other dash cams to consider?

I have a Rexing dashcam in my Rogue. I like it. Functions well. However, I have not shopped any in about 2 years. So...some others may have gotten better. I am certain there are better ones for $360.

If you're on Reddit, go to r/dashcams. Personally, I have a Garmin 46 which works well.

didnt realize they had this option. what was the cost and labor to install?
Cost, according to Nissan‘s build function, is $360. I don’t know what dealers charge as the dealers I inquired could not get it in time for my purchase Of the Z.

Update, I passed on the Nissan dash cam and just purchased (not installed yet) a Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2. Very small, no screen (uses the Garmin app) and great reviews. $109 most places. If it works OK, I will get an adapter to use power from the auto dimming mirror. (I know the Performance has the auto dimming mirror, not sure about the Sport)

This Nissan Dash Cam came installed in my Nismo, a $350 option.

It took me a while to figure out why it wasn't working - there is a power button on the passenger side of the device that was off. It needs the car to be in the "On" mode in order for it to be powered up. Accessory mode won't turn it on.

It has three modes to get at the recordings. Cloud mode requires an account on a sever and you need a Device ID and Security Key to create the login. The problem is the sticker with the Security Key is on the bottom of the device and you need to unmount it to get access to the sticker. It also needs a subscription (6 month free trial). This is too much of a hassle to be worth it.

The next option is Direct Connect to the device using a smartphone. You connect to the device's built-in WiFi and access the files for download. Each file is 104MB in size, and the car has to be in the "On" mode while downloading. I downloaded a few files, and they are all of me in the car trying to download the files.

The third option is a WiFi mode that I haven't tried, but it's probably not much better than the Direct Mode.

I'll probably just pull the SD card as needed to download something if it's important. I think this is mostly good for security if someone hits your car or breaks into it. I'll play with recording drives in the spring to see how that works.

There are far cheaper and more convenient options all over Amazon.

Update 2: for adding the tiny Garmin Mini2 to my RZ34. I installed the Garmin Mini 2 in my new Z and found that that the Dongar adapter for Nissans was the easy plug and play way to provide 12v power to the dashcam . It used the existing 10 pin connector on the back of the mirror so no covers need to be removed, etc.

While on our road trip back to California after buying the new Z, we detoured to Pikes Peak. On the way down we went through the Manitou Springs suburb of Colorado Springs, where we saw a young bear crossing the highway in front of us. Here is the snapshot from the wide angel 1080P dash cam. The wide angle and 1080p resolution does not help with far away objects like the bear crossing just this side of the overpass.

Cropping the image down helps a little, but maybe for the next road trip I will get a higher resolution dashcam. (the 12v power from the adapter should work with any 12v device: dashcams, radar detectors, etc. ) There are lots of 4K dashcams on amazon similar in price to the Garmin Mini 2, but are much bigger.

Good luck with Garmin. I have 4 of them and only one works as it should. All the others I have to reformat weekly or the files become corrupt and not able to view.

Anyone else have any experience? I was looking at the VIOFO A229. My employer is rolling out an RTO plan so I want to keep my Z safe.
