Anyone else have any experience? I was looking at the VIOFO A229. My employer is rolling out an RTO plan so I want to keep my Z safe.
Thats the same as the one i got installed on mine. Great dual channel dash cam!

Which version (Plus or PRO), with or without GPS?
the not pro one. but if u feel like u need the pro one for 4k quality u could go that route. but the 2k is really good enough, make sure to check youtube for the comparison for in depth detailing. GPS should be default i believe

My recommendation is this! I’ve used an Escort Radar for years. The best radar detector bar none. The bundled Dash Cam is awesome as well! It only goes off when real threats are known. 😊

I bought the Garmin mini as well. I can't tell from your image if my mirror is the same (I have a Sport). Seems like mine is 7 prong, but they're separated. I'm trying to figure out which adapter to get so I don't have to mess with the long cable.

Thanks in advance!

Update 2: for adding the tiny Garmin Mini2 to my RZ34. I installed the Garmin Mini 2 in my new Z and found that that the Dongar adapter for Nissans was the easy plug and play way to provide 12v power to the dashcam . It used the existing 10 pin connector on the back of the mirror so no covers need to be removed, etc.

The dashcam installed with the dongar adapter.

While on our road trip back to California after buying the new Z, we detoured to Pikes Peak. On the way down we went through the Manitou Springs suburb of Colorado Springs, where we saw a young bear crossing the highway in front of us. Here is the snapshot from the wide angel 1080P dash cam. The wide angle and 1080p resolution does not help with far away objects like the bear crossing just this side of the overpass.

Cropping the image down helps a little, but maybe for the next road trip I will get a higher resolution dashcam. (the 12v power from the adapter should work with any 12v device: dashcams, radar detectors, etc. ) There are lots of 4K dashcams on amazon similar in price to the Garmin Mini 2, but are much bigger.

The back of your mirror does look different than my 2023 Performance. The key questions are: Does your Z have power for the mirror? (usually for auto dimming) and then; How many pins does that connector have?

My Performance used a Nissan 10
pin connector (that Dongar currently seems to be out of) but you need to pull your plug out and count. If I recall correctly, Dongar does list a couple of other Nissan adapters with a different pin count.

Let us know what you find for the benefit of other Sport owners.

Good luck!

Update for the 2023 Sport enjoyers. The mirror does connect to a 7 prong adapter (unlike the Performance). It doesn't affect your setup at all, because you just plug the mirror cord into the back of the adapter. I have some pictures to show what it looks like when you set it up. The Garmin Mini 2 camera is small and the quality is really good, but it does get very hot (website says that's normal).

Could you kind share how you disconnected the 7-pin connector on the back of the rear view mirror? Is there a tab to press to loosen?
Thank, in advance, for your time and assistance.

I recall having the same question. I think looking at the Dongar pin that goes into the mirror told me the answer. (although it's been almost two years and I don't recall the answer and I'm not near the car). Good luck!

There's a little tab in the middle at the top of the 7 pin connector. When you push that down, you can pull the connector out.

Thank you very much for the quick response. I ordered the 10 pin Donger adapter without confirming the number of pins on the connector (that’s my bad). I just ordered the same 7 pin Donger adapter that you shared! Looks like it was an easy install. Hope it’s still working well for you.

So is there anyone on these forums that have actually tried the factory option? I hear a lot of talk about how there are better options, but I've yet to find a person who has actually used it and knows.

Would be really interested in in a real hands-on review.
