Hi All. Picked up a 2024 Z Sport last month. First "Sport car" in my life but rode motorcycles for years with plenty of zip. My issue is this. The dealer filled the tank with I assume the proper octane gas. No clue what brand. For the second tank fill I used 93 octane from a busy station. The performance went down, very noticeably. Hmm? Maybe just my imagination? Bad gas? The third fill was the same and so on. Any ideas why this happened? Thanks.

That seems strange!

I’m very OCD about what gas I put in my Z. I always go to the same Sunoco station and obviously use 93.

How different was the weather?

Different hills?

Or even just getting used to it.

There's always an initial level of extra oomph before you know what to expect.

But of course try another gas station. If that doesn't change anything than it could be weather or just in your head.

If its thats noticeable after filling with 93 id definitely be worried about bad gas. Have you tried other stations? What specific issues is it having? Will need more details

Thanks Guys. I live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. To date I've found one station that sells 93 octane, so they say. Tried 91 octane at another station with no change. Also an octane booster. Ambient temp. not an issue. Hills? I wish we had real hills and curves around these parts. Just does not seem to have the kick when the turbos rev up like the first tank of gas.

Getting more comfortable with it. No plans for racing/track or such. Just fun! Maybe a tuning kit in the future?

Take it back to the dealer for inspection. It should be covered. That's what I would do.

I have noticed some small performance differences day to day. For instance today I was clear on a road and did a launch-control run. Tires spun like crazy. First time that has ever happened... also the first time I have ever run it in 80°+ weather. Tires were warm too, had been driving on hot pavement for about half an hour before that. Strange.

I have noticed acceleration doesn't seem as great in warmer weather too. Not enough for me to say something is wrong or its the gas or anything. Could all be in my head as I am just getting more used to the car and how it drives. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I have filled it up 3 times. Twice with 93 and once with 91. Gas didn't seem to matter.

On turbo charged engines, cold air is denser. Equaling more hp
It's definitely different than my last 2 sports cars; LS1 V8 C5 Corvette's.

Digging this platform though and having fun learning about JDM stuff.

Does the Sport have the Standard and Sport drive modes? I have the Performance trim and the car feels nerfed while driving in standard mode. Have you noticed a change in MPG? If performance decreases and you're getting less mileage per fill-up then yeah definitely take it bad to the dealer.

Just FYI:
I just filled my tank for the first time since I got mine. I usually use ethanol free gas in my vehicles that require super. The super in my are is a 93 Oct and the ethanol free is 90.
I used the ethanol free and, just like my other vehicles, the difference is amazing.

Maybe "Ethanol" is the issue? I did not pay attention at the pump to ethanol content.
