"Nissan’s twin-turbo V-6 still packs a punch, hitting its powerband midway through the rev range in a way that’s explosive and exciting. Slower acceleration numbers don’t mean this engine feels weak."

I'm glad both are highly tunable and mod-friendly. End of the day if you're looking for a true track car a Corvette is going to mop the floor with both. The driving enjoyment and fun factor just isn't there though...enter the boy racer Z! It's truly like reliving the Japanese 1990s glory days.

For sure, but the VQ37 offers similar performance with less complexity. Makes this TT very unappealing.

Which one responds better to bolt-ons and tuning? See my previous statement.

The VR30 has proven itself and by now everyone knows what it is, downsides, flaws, etc.

It's not for everyone; it is for enthusiasts.

I guess Im just stunned at how terrible it actually is. I saw the stock nismo manual dyno. 390/390. And it weighs 3600#. How is it so horrific at actually delivering that power? Maybe if you modded it to 600whp it could keep up with a stock mustang? Also, at 3600#, I cant abide the "but corners..." argument.

Consider the source. If it’s not a BMW/Toyota we don’t like it. In my opinion, Motor Trend has lost the plot when it comes to attainable enthusiasts/driver cars. Fast but numb? Soulless? Perfect.

I raced cars - formula open wheel, tin top, all sorts- even a 510 - for years. If you want a track car, buy a track car. If you want a capable, comfortable really fun street car - the Z fits the bill perfectly. Comfy seat, decent 6 speed, good handling with enough power and grip for anything on a public road. No need for 600hp - car doesn’t have the grip for that anyway. And as a bonus - not many around - it’s exclusive!
Top tier track performance sucks on a road car. The Z - despite MotorTrends views - gives you the best mix at a great value. Nissan for the win!

Unfortunately a lot of folks here have champagne taste and bubble water finances! They complained about there not being an affordable two door sports car with a manual option and once there is one complain it doesn’t perform like a Porsche.

I would really like to drive one, but there of course aren't any available for that, yet. Just regular Z's which noone likes who has driven both. I'd love to try the manual Nismo, but I think it will be a while before I can snag a test drive in one. I did drive a CTR FL5 this morning, and the thing was absolutely phenomenal, even if it is down on power compared to most cars I've owned.

Okay, but we have the Supra, and noone is complaining.
The 0-30 was only off the 4.1 pace of the Supra by 0.1 second...it wasn't tires. Also, the trap speed delta was almost 6mph. Again...it's not the tires. The only viable 2 explanations are 1, Nissan really murdered the car with their "manual specific ECU tune" -OR- MT or the delivery crew filled it up with the most rotten 87 octane they could find. I am curious if C&D gets vastly different numbers.

I find this hilarious. Everyone cries foul when their baby gets called ugly. No basis to it what-so-ever in this case, IMO.

That’s interesting. Do you know what extra specifications the A90 Final Edition has compared to the standard version?

Have you driven one? If so, and you don't like it, then don't buy one.

Mine is modded/tuned (stock turbos) on 93 and puts more power to the wheels than either of my Corvettes (C7 & C8) and Evos (IX & X) did when also modified/tuned. Mustangs aren't a challenge for any of the above...

It's not a track car; if all you care about are stats and lap times then this isn't the correct choice for you.

Speaking of ugly, the MK5 Supra is a design lesson in what not to do. It’s a mess from a design perspective. From a driving perspective, it’s fast and numb (like most modern BMWs) and when pushed the rear wants to swap ends with you without letting you know that it’s about to do it. The sight lines are terrible and you feel like you’re driving in a coffin. If this all appeals to you, by all means get one. You can be another BMW fanboy (which it sounds like you already are).

I need to. I have driven and owned a 370Z in Sport/Touring/Manual trim. 2012. I presume the Nismo fixed the shitty suspension, though. I think it will be hard to drive a manual Nismo for a while though.

I am a fan of cars like my C6Z, and the FL5 I drove today. Very driver oriented cars. Fast isn't the game for me anymore really, as it's all slow. That said, I really want to drive the Nismo as it might absolutely do it for me, but the numbers are a gut punch tbh. It doesn't have to be fast, but 13.2@108? With 400whp? Sounds like horrible power delivery that would ruin the experience.
