I had a type r (FK8) 2017. It was 36000$ then. Now they want 48K!!! For a 4cyl fwd car. I love the type r but I'm not paying 50K. for a fwd 4cyl car. I said to myself,my next car will be rwd and a 2 seater sports car.

Love how the truth is just coming out.. there’s such a gap in cars rn in the 30-50k range for an affordable sports car. Nobody can make a 400hp car manual with LSD for less than 50k?
Just buy a sport for 39-41k and add the Nismo Diff, it's all under warranty through Nissan.

Yes, I had the same thought process. My next car either needed to be RWD Manual Transmission or I would just hold out for a newer electric car.

I have only seen 2 other Zs in the wild. One was back before they went on sale (2021?), so I'm assuming it was a reviewer as it was a yellow proto. The other one was a blue one that I saw yesterday on the highway and we both stared at each other. I get a lot of people looking at me in traffic and complimenting my car. The styling and colour options are excellent on these cars.

I probably didn't pick the best time to buy mine (August of 2024) but luckily the dealer I bought mine from, as awful as they were, didn't hit me with a markup. I paid I want to say about 60,000 OTD for my Seiran Blue performance 6MT. Was higher than I'd like, but it was also half an hour away, blue interior, and was about as fully loaded as I could get it from the factory.

I have seen about two other Z's in the wild near me. I think numbers will improve after the overcompensation on 2024's.

I bought my 2024 Performance on April 3rd, two days before this thread was posted, partially for reasons suggested in this thread: 1.) I got a substantial discount off MSRP (a little over $10k off), 2.) I figured I'd rather pull the trigger now than gamble on what, at least at the time, sounded like as much as a 25% price INCREASE due to tariffs.

Other reasons I moved when I did: 3.) was frustrated with some things going on with the vehicle I ended up trading in, and 4.) I wanted to get something with a 6 speed, loved the blue interior, and having a full factory new car warranty was also appealing.

Yeah lots of Miata apologists trying to justify their purchase I guess.

Any normal person who is just into cars and is not into brand loyalty would know that around $35k for a sport, $45k for a performance or $55k for a Nismo Z is a hell of a deal.
I love quality performance autos of all makes from the Aston Martin Vanguard to the Chevy C8 and of course Porsche 911 . Let's not forget the Godzilla GT-R. Some of you know I owned previously a Type R FK8. But with a 4 door fwd 2.0 L motor that does punch well with the big boys topping out at 169mph at 7200 rpm. I decided paying 55K for that is not smart. I got a better power for value and another performance auto that has a longer heritage.

Confession time, I love both for different reasons, I would never try to pretend they are even in the same class of car besides both being 2 seaters. Completely different uses. Our little collection of Miatas....
