I love my 2024 Sport Z but I have always wanted an "M" car. I'm not saying I'm going to trade in my Z for an M2 but I am curious of what those in the Z community think of this particular car. I'd appreciate any thoughts both pro and con about the M2. Thanks!

The M2 was on my list when I was shopping for the Z in early 2023, but the styling threw me off. That was the first year of the current design. A year earlier and I might have gone for it. The Supra fell into the same camp: didn't like the styling. The automotive landscape has certainly changed since then.

Other things that tipped me towards the Z:
  • The M2 has a useless back seat.
  • Didn't like the dashboard.

Looks terribly ugly in photos but in person I actually kinda like it. Would never pay sticker for it ($70k+ or 80k+ with the Carbon package).

At the end of the day it's the lowest class of M car and the lowest class of something should never be that expensive. It's like paying $20k for a Tudor watch instead of a Rolex. Same watch mechanism ie. engine but you don't get the brand/trim recognition that should come with shelling out that much cash like you would in an M4 or M3.

You can get a 3 year old BMW M8 for around the same price, I'd do that (V8, 617HP) before an M2.

The m2 was on my list when i was shopping as well. cost was a factor and i prefer the Z’s styling, hatchback, 2 seater, dbl wishbone, m/t, rwd and the Z heritage.

The Z is a bargain and I prefer japan cars that are assembled in Japan vs other countries. with that said i might would buy the M2 over a $70K nismo auto. But I’m not sure i can buy a car that is assembled in Mexico - even a Beamer. If it was built in Germany, that would be a no-brainer.

When my wife total her G37 back in ā€˜23, she decided to go for a suv. She test drove several infinity SUV’s and said something was not right - i looked at the sticker - made in Mexico. I said i found the problem. she ended up buying an USA built Acura RDX. Not a fan of it being assembled USA vs japan - but cry far better that Mexico.

Wow i was not aware that the M2 is assembled in Mexico, I assumed M cars would always be built in Germany, if this is true, I may have to rethink my M2 desires.....

I agree, In pics the car is ugly, but when I saw one in person, I thought it was not beautiful, but not ugly. I'm more interested in the M engineering much more than the looks of the car anyways
