C8 Gremlins, Let's see.....where do we begin

Engine issues (Valve Springs, etc)
DCT issues (luck of the draw, GM is going in house with the tranny building now for 2024)
Wavy Windshields (that are being replaced with another wavy windshield)
Gas Leaks (this one just showed up)
Frunk lids flying up (this one was fixed IIRC)
Suction Cup marks on paint
Body Panel Fit and Finish
Expensive as all hell to mod for minimum gains, ECU still locked
Failed OTA updates can brick your car

And to add to all of this...2024 is doing away with the rear hatch lock cylinder, if you have an issue you have to cut the rear hatch.

This is one of the many stupidities with going completely keyless ... if the fancy electronic buttons don't work, then you're screwed. It should be a legal requirement for cars to include a proper key for all the doors, trunks, hoods, petrol flaps, and for starting the car.

There's a Toyota dealership here in Jersey that had 3 used C8s going for 115k each. Gorgeous looking cars. All 3 of them were sold. I'm like where the hell are people finding this money lol.

I still say good for GM for making a powerful mid engine sports car....

but to add to your list from track friends that own them. storage sucks, brake by wire is garbage, and the computers and warnings freak out at the slightest thing. even non OEM brake pads set things off.

A track friend ordered better pads when the platform was new and he was trying track it. There were- at that time- not a lot of choices if any for upgraded pads. I honestly do not know if there have been any improvements since (late 2021)

The brake system went into fault and he had to go back to OEM.

He races a BMW now and just drives the c8 on the road now. So i do not know NOW what is recommended or available on the track.
As I understand him and his mechanic the brake by wire is constantly looking for certain feedback and sensor readings. when they get out of range it goes into limp.

Also I say garbage because there is ZERO feedback from the brakes. You have zero knowledge if they are hot, spongy, cold, or any issues. The feedback and brake pedal feel are exactly the same if they are cold or 800 degrees and on fire. You will only get a dash light.

Aso no way of knowing if you are running out of pad until again the light comes on. I do not like it and it would be a large hurdle for me to get into that platform on the track. .02

yep. But it will go into limp and you would have to pull into pits to see what it doesn't like.

I still have not seen a c8 on track days or events where the owner is really driving the F out of it. So far I have only seen them cruising around in green/novice or at 50% of what the car can do. The serious tracks guys- that i know w c8s - just use them on the roads and race other platforms. fwiw
