A primary concern of mine, has been the possibility of low planned output, irrespective of COVID/world events. To be clear, I never expected mass produced output like some other vehicles. But I've just been getting the vibe this vehicle production will be on the low side of even modest...
That is the crux of the matter. If Nissan is estimating a limited production of Zs, then they might not care so much losing substantial customer sales, if Nissan won't/can't produce those Zs anyway. So they might as well shoot higher for price.
If you haven't seen Jay Leno's Garage episode on the new Z, have a look on YouTube. That video avoids the shaky/moving camera that is popular (obnoxious) these days, and also doesn't use a wide angle lens that tends to distort the vehicle proportions. I thought the Z appeared very nice in Jay's...
Sooner would be nice. But reading the tea leaves, I look at it this way:
1) I don't envision Z being a high production available vehicle in the first place, and even less so with various constraints.
2) Z arrives USA maybe June/July/Aug, and will be in particularly short supply remainder of...
That doesn't sound good. I don't buy a $50 pair of jeans without trying on. I'm not spending $50,000 without a test drive. That's just the way I roll, especially when spending large sums.
Scenario doesn't necessarily have to be "abandon it for a pickup". Some people already own vehicles. They might "abandon" the Z in favor of their current sports car. If the Z ends up deemed not a good cost/benefit. In that case, the person still has pavement performance functionality with...
Yeah it might seem odd for people to be considering a 4x4 vs sports car, two vehicles of much different genres and usages.
To answer your question, my household already has several vehicles, including two older open-top 4x4s, and a first gen BRZ. Funds are not unlimited. I'm a long time...
Price vs demand will be a key factor in this climate.
Let's say given the conditions, Nissan is forecasting a 10,000 unit production for the given time period. But Nissan forecasts demand at 20,000 units. Nissan can start with a higher price, and not a big problem if they lose 10,000 sales, if...
For a USA customer such as me, without connections and who won't pay ADM, my prediction is a new Z will not be available in my driveway, until late calendar year 2023 or more likely early 2024. And at that time, the performance version price will have risen to at least 50k.
That's me wearing...
hmm, for my part I don't think I was blaming Nissan, more asking questions.
Specifically, my question about Nissan's general planned Z production targets, irrespective of COVID/world issues. I'm assuming Nissan planned a capacity to produce the vehicle, with upper and lower limits?
Z might...
This. All day. While acknowledging world events and things happen ... is the general plan for Nissan to produce this vehicle in sufficient numbers to meet the expected demand? Or will availability get strung out into years long waits with extended ADMs and then price hikes, before some folks are...
Definitely down with the affordable aspect, and also not needing the Z to kill competitor vehicles. Repurposing aspects of the chassis, proven engine and other aspects, is also fine with me and a smart move ... instead of being a guinea pig with a lot of brand new components and the associated...
I saw some odd things at the dealership when buying my new car in early 2020 (pre-covid). A customer underwater with his current one year old car, and with bad credit, yet trying to buy a new car. Customer and the sales guy were working phones trying to arrange some creative financing.
And...
Ford initially started out promising with their Bronco offering. I can't fault Ford for the vehicle itself, because they came through and offered a real life open top rugged 4x4. But then it kind of fell apart with the delivery.
And it's the delivery which will make or break the Z for me. In...
How do you feel though, about buying a car (new Z) you've never driven? Or do you have experience driving the 370Z, and figure it won't be much different?
I've never driven a Z car, and won't buy any car without test driving. Sounds like that's going to be a problem for me, until a new Z...
Yep it says Made In Taiwan on the box. The quality seems nice.
I'm not the most organized guy, and my tools were previously scattered around the garage in various locations and smaller tool boxes. Just finished collecting them into the new rolling cabinet. So much easier now to quickly find a...
