I spoke to Nissan customer service yesterday.
They couldn't give me any info as they say they don't have any.
Just got a call from my dealer :(
Not sure if it's related to me contacting Nissan Australia last week.

But apparently they've been advised to contact all of their customers (not sure if this includes @Jezza) and let them know not to expect delivery until mid 2024.

Another 12 months ?

Sounds like canada is gonna follow suit, except they wont notify any of us “preordered” customers. They rather send all units to usa for stealerships instead of actually sending units to people who put a deposit down to the manufacturer, thanks nissan for investing our money

I imagine there'll be a lot of people cancelling after receiving that phone call.

Did your dealership provide any reason for the delay?

Nope.
They've not been given any info previously. I wouldn't assume they'd have any now.
No call here, you hadn't received a build allocation yet right?

Dealer I spoke to last Thursday was in QLD and he said paint issues and again manual gearbox issues, who really knows.
I have been happy to wait but mid next year might be a real push, if someone would actually tell you whats going on then I may have taken a different color option when offered,

Hopefully yourself and @peter will have just squeezed in and you get your cars, two years is bad enough…but if you have to wait for a third….
I have not had my allocation confirmed yet, so looks like bad news for me

This would make sense ….so many supposedly built but not shipped. If there was yet another issue with the car, perhaps they held them back to rectify the issue before sending them.
Just really hope that when you do finally get them that they have fully rectified any problems

I’m feeling very very lucky to have one.
You got super lucky…enjoy it.

On another note, car expert just posted the below. You have to really start wondering what in the heck Nissan is doing.
Look I’m glad I jumped ship, but I’m still a bit sad as well. I really would have lived a manual, and I do miss that aspect …to be honest I’m really just very angry at how we have all been treated. And it just keeps coming back to the same thing….why?
Why, all the delays? And Why couldn’t they just be up front and honest?

Meanwhile in Honda land …

“In good news for both potential Honda Civic Type R buyers and those who have already placed an order, there’s more stock coming to Australia.

UPDATE, 05/05/2023 2:30pm – Honda Australia has confirmed an additional 500 units of the Civic Type R have been made available for customers in 2023.

It says estimated arrival times have been reduced by up to nine months with the latest orders now scheduled for a February 2024 arrival at Honda dealerships.

Customers on the FL5 Civic Type R Australia group on Facebook report they’ve been notified by Honda dealers more cars are coming, and many have had their estimated delivery time brought forward by several months as a consequence.”
