R3 and I am blind as hell up close. But I am anal when I install anything. The details matter. I only used velcro, not the wire ties. I am happy with the install, but I want to put a bracket on too.
So, what the pictures cannot really show. For the 3 wire install, the green wire closest to the drivers side is the IGN/ON to make is work. The always on is closest to the passenger side. From what I can see, visually, is there is zero difference between the two green wires. There may be a black/green on the passenger side, but the drivers side is the IGN/ON.
I hope this helps someone else on their install.

The blendmount is on the way. I hate the suction cups. Living in the desert ... anything rubber melts or rots away within a year.
I don't ever ... ever, ever ... tell the wife what I spend on this car. :lipssealed:

The mount arrived. The parts are small and I have neuropathy, so it will take me sometime and a bit of pain to install. Not Blendmounts issue, just mine. The quality of the mount is great! I just need to get 'r done.

I apologize in advance if the pictures are blurry, but ... getting old sucks!
Happy I have no suction cups on my windsheild!

Looks good like go pro design-ish but not sure it will fit the Z and they do not list r series uniden detectors or nissan Z.

I run Blendmount on the rv mirror - they list car and detector model for fitment. For windshield mount i use the ebay $10 ”permanent“ mount - you can tuck your detector high and tight - out of sight.

For BF/CM, I bought an top end Uniden R8W, a Dongar DCA-10A mirror power adapter [https://dongar.tech/products/dca-10a], a Stealth Mount [https://stealth-mount.com/], a USB-C to RJ-11 power adapter cable [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D5B3667F?ref_=pe_125775000_1044873430_t_fed_asin_title&th=1] and a "tried and true" Blend Mount BR7-2001R [https://blendmount.com/aluminum-radar-detector-mount-for-uniden-r7-r8-r8w-standard-2001r-series-br7-2001r/?searchid=0&search_query="BR7-2001R"], just in case the Stealth Mount doesn't work out. I really hope it does, b/c I like the idea of one handed attach/detach as I'll probably be doing that at least 1-2x daily.

Will report back after all the parts arrive and I complete the installation!

I don't
Thanks for these pics, they were helpful!
With the Blendmount ... the R3 picks up the signals miles away now. Clean install and love it.

I'm excited to get Uniden and complete the install. I've been thinking about it ever since I got the car about 5 months ago (b/c it's fast, it's red, and it's my daily driver), and I just bought a loud exhaust too (AWE Track)...idk how loud it's going to be in person...I need some countermeasures!

Best investment after buying the Z ... radar detector and a mount for it. Place it has high as you can and put the right foot to the floor.
Drive it like you stole it.

Thank you so much. Super helpful info! Cleaned up / finished my Uniden R8w install today! I used your tips re: Driver's side green wire (and a multimeter to test ;)

I was using Dongar previously for power, but swapped it out for this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082V1245P?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1

Had too much bulk with the Dongar, the wires, and adapters...my revised install is much, much cleaner.

Using this https://stealth-mount.com/ and pretty happy with it so far. When I had a minor issue with loose fit, and the seller's customer service was super responsive and quick to fix it as well.

Clean install, and easy to attach/detach without having to remove the RJ11. Looking at getting another for my other Z...
